Souls are assembled troops; so those that recognize each other from them will associate, and those that do not recognize each other will differ.

والمجندة: المجموعة، وهذا كما يقال ألف مؤلفة وقناطير مقنطرة أي مضعفة

And al-mujannadah: the assembled, and this is like saying a thousand multiplied and heaps of heaps, meaning doubled.

يقول: إن الأجساد التي فيها الأرواح تلتقي في الدنيا فتأتلف وتختلف على حسب ما خلقت عليه

He says: the bodies that contain the souls meet in this world and thus associate or differ according to what they were created upon.

ويقال: هذا جند قد أقبل وهؤلاء جنود قد أقبلوا؛ قال الله تعالى: جند ما هنالك مهزوم من الأحزاب

And it is said: this is a jund that has come, and these are junds that have come; Allah the Almighty said: A host there, defeated, from the confederates.
