والهمزة بدل من الواو وأصله وحد لأنه من الوحدة
And the hamza is a substitute for the waw, and its origin is 'wahad' because it is from 'wahda' (oneness).
والأحد: بمعنى الواحد وهو أول العدد
And 'al-Ahad' means 'al-Wahid' (the One), and it is the beginning of the count.
تقول أحد واثنان وأحد عشر وإحدى عشرة
You say one, two, eleven, and eleven (feminine).
وأما قوله تعالى: قل هو الله أحد ؛ فهو بدل من الله

So you say: I did not spend the eleven thousand dirhams.
والبصريون يدخلونهما في أوله فيقولون: ما فعلت الأحد عشر ألف درهم
And the Basrans introduce them at its beginning, so they say: I did not spend the eleven thousand dirhams.
وتقول لا أحد في الدار ولا تقول فيها أحد
And you say 'la ahad' (no one) in the house, and you do not say 'ahad' (someone) in it.
وما في الدار أحد فهو اسم لمن يصلح أن يخاطب يستوي فيه الواحد والجمع والمؤنث والمذكر
And 'ma fi al-dar ahad' (there is no one in the house) is a name for one who is suitable to be addressed, in which the singular, plural, feminine, and masculine are equal.
وقال الله تعالى: لستن كأحد من النساء
And Allah the Almighty said: You are not like anyone among the women.
وقال: فما منكم من أحد عنه حاجزين
And He said: And there will be no one among you to prevent it.
وجاؤوا أحاد أحاد غير مصروفين لأنهما معدولان في اللفظ والمعنى جميعا
And they came in groups, one group after another, undeclined because they are both diverted in form and meaning.
معي عشرة فأحدهن أي صيرهن أحد عشر
I have ten, so make them eleven, meaning turn them into eleven.

أي أشر بإصبع واحدة لأن الذي تدعو إليه واحد وهو الله تعالى
Meaning, point with one finger because He whom you call upon is One, and He is Allah the Almighty.
والأحد من الأيام، معروف، تقول مضى الأحد بما فيه؛ فيفرد ويذكر؛ عن اللحياني
And 'al-Ahad' is from the days, known. You say 'Al-Ahad has passed with what was in it'; it is used singularly and mentioned; according to Al-Lihyani.
والجمع آحاد وأحدان
And the plural is 'ahad' and 'ahadan'.
واستأحد الرجل: انفرد
And a man became solitary: he became alone.
وما استأحد بهذا الأمر: لم يشعر به، يمانية
And he was not aware of this matter: he did not feel it, a Yamanite usage.

And 'ihda al-ihid': the serious, grave affair.
وسئل عن رجل تتابع عليه رمضانان فقال: إحدى من سبع ؛ يعني اشتد الأمر فيه
And he was asked about a man who had two Ramadans consecutively, so he said: 'One out of seven'; meaning the matter became severe for him.
