الفراء: فاحت ريحه وفاخت أخذت بنفسه وفاحت دون ذلك.
Al-Farra': its scent diffused, and fākhat, it seized one's senses, and fāḥat, less than that.
الأصمعي: فاخت منه ريح طيبة تفوخ وتفيخ مثل فاحت.
Al-Asma'i: a pleasant scent emanated from it, tafūkhi and tafīkhi, like fāḥat.

Afākhta the waterskin ifākhatan if you opened its mouth to let its smell escape, he said: And I heard an Arabist say afākhta the waterskin if you coated its inside with date syrup.
وأفخ عنك من الظهيرة أي أقم حتى يسكن حر النهار ويبرد، وهو أيضا مذكور في الياء أيضا.
And afkh from the midday heat, meaning stay until the heat of the day subsides and it cools, and it is also mentioned with the letter Yā'.
وفي الحديث: أنه خرج يريد حاجة فاتبعه بعض أصحابه فقال: تنح عني فإن كل بائلة يفيخ.
And in the hadith: He went out for a need, and some of his companions followed him, so he said: Move away from me, for every bā'ilah yafīkh.
الإفاخة الحدث من خروج الريح خاصة؛ وقوله بائلة أي نفس بائلة.
Al-Ifākhatu is the emission of wind specifically; and his saying bā'ilah means a bā'ilah soul.
الليث: إفاخة الريح بالدبر.
Al-Layth: Ifākhatu al-rīḥi bi-al-dabr (emission of wind from the anus).
إذا جعلت الفعل للصوت قلت فاخ يفوخ.
If you make the verb refer to sound, you say fākha yafūkhi.
وفاخت الريح تفوخ فوخا إذا كان مع هبوبها صوت.
And the wind fākhat tafūkhi fawkhānan if there was a sound with its blowing.
وأما الفوح، بالحاء، فمن الريح تجدها لا من الصوت.
As for al-fawḥu, with Ḥā', it is from a scent you find, not from a sound.
إذا بال الإنسان أو الدابة فخرج منه ريح، قيل: أفاخ؛ وأنشد لجرير: ظل اللهازم يلعبون بنسوة ... بالجو، يوم يفخن بالأبوال
If a person or animal urinates and wind comes out of it, it is said: afākha; and he recited for Jarir: The necks of the strong played with women... in the air, on the day they yafkhuna with urine.
وأفاخ ببوله إذا اتسع مخرجه؛ وأفاخت الناقة ببولها وأشاعت وأوزغت؛ وأنشد بيت جرير أيضا.
And he afākha with his urine if its exit was wide; and the she-camel afākhat with her urine, and ashā'at, and awzghat; and he recited Jarir's verse also.
