ثم ينام الفخة أي ينام نومة يسمع فخيخه فيها.
Then he sleeps the fakhkhah, meaning he sleeps a sleep in which his fukheekh is heard.
قال ابن الأعرابي الفخة أن ينام على قفاه وينفخ من الشبع؛
Ibn al-A'rabi said: Al-fakhkhah is to sleep on one's back and puff from satiety;
هل أبيتن ليلة ... بفخ، وحولي إذخر وجليل؟
Would that I could spend a night... in Fakh, with idhkhir and jaleel around me?
فخ: موضع بمكة، وقيل: واد دفن به عبد الله بن عمر،
Fakh: a place in Mecca, and it was said: a valley where Abdullah bin Omar was buried,
والأفعى له فخيخ، قال ابن سيده: الفخيخ من أصوات الحيات شبيه بالنفخ،
And the viper has a fukheekh, Ibn Saydah said: Al-fukheekh is from the sounds of snakes, similar to puffing,
وقد يقال بالحاء غير معجمة، وهي أعلى.
And it may be said with 'ha' (ح) unpointed, and it is higher (more eloquent).
فحت الأفعى تفح إذا سمعت صوتها من فمها، فأما الكشيش فصوتها من جلدها.
The viper 'fahhat' (hisses) if you hear its sound from its mouth, but 'kashish' is its sound from its skin.
وامرأة فخ وفخة: قذرة،
And a woman 'fakhkh' and 'fakhkhah': dirty,
وأمكم فخ قذام وخندف
And your mother is fakhkh, Qudham and Khindif
ألست ابن سوداء المحاجر فخة، ... لها علبة لحوى، ورطب مجزم
Are you not the son of a black-eyed, dirty woman, ... who has a fleshy cheek and a moist jaw?
فخفخ الرجل إذا فاخر بالباطل.
A man 'fakhfakhah' if he boasts falsely.
والخفخفة والفخفخة: حركة القرطاس والثوب الجديد.
And al-khifkhifah and al-fakhfakhah: the movement of parchment and new clothing.
فَدَخَهُ يفْدَخُهُ فَدْخاً: شدَخَهُ وهو رطب.
He 'fadhakhahu' (crushed it) 'yafdukhuhu' 'fadhkhan': he smashed it while it was moist.
والفَدْخ: الكسر.
And al-fadhkh: the breaking.
وفَدَخْتُ الشيءَ فَدْخاً: كسرته.
And I 'fadhakhtu' (broke) the thing 'fadhkhan': I broke it.
