قال الليث: وناس يسمون هذه الأبواب التي تسميها العجم بنحرقات خوخات.

Al-Layth said: And people call these doors, which the Persians call 'nahraqāt', 'khūkhāt'.

أبو عمرو: والخويخية الداهية، والياء مخففة؛

Abu Amr said: And 'al-khuwaykhīyah' (with light ya) means the cunning person;

قال لبيد: وكل أناس سوف تدخل بينهم ... خويخية، تصفر منها الأنامل

Labid said: And every people, soon a cunning one will enter among them... causing fingers to turn yellow (with fear/envy).

قال شمر: لم أسمع خويخية إلا للبيد، وأبو عمرو ثقة؛

Shamr said: I have not heard 'khuwaykhīyah' except from Labid, and Abu Amr is trustworthy;

وقال الأزهري: هذا حرف غريب، ورواه بعضهم دويهية؛

And Al-Azhari said: This is a strange word, and some have narrated it as 'duwayhiyah';

قال: ومن الغريب أيضا ما روي عن ابن الأعرابي، قال: الصوصية والصواصية الداهية.

He said: And also strange is what is narrated from Ibn Al-A'rabi, who said: 'Al-sūsūyah' and 'Al-sawāsīyah' mean the cunning person.

التهذيب: واسم موضع يقال له روضة خاخ بين الحرمين،

وكانت المرأة التي أدركها علي والزبير، رضي الله عنهما، وأخذا منها كتابا كتبه حاطب بن أبي بلتعة إلى أهل مكة، إنما ألفياها بروضة خاخ؛

And the woman whom Ali and Al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with them, overtook and took from her a letter written by Hatib bin Abi Balta'ah to the people of Mecca, they only found her in Rawdat Khākh;

ففتشاها وأخذا منها الكتاب.

So they searched her and took the letter from her.
