And so-and-so did not prosper nor succeed.
وتنجحت الحاجة واستنجحتها إذا تنجزتها.
And the need was accomplished, and you sought to accomplish it, if you completed it.
ونجحت هي ونجح أمر فلان: تيسر وسهل، فهو ناجح
And it (the need) was fulfilled, and the matter of so-and-so became easy and facilitated, so he is successful.
فيهن أم الصبيين التي تبلت ... قلبي، فليس لها، ما عشت، إنجاح
Among them is the mother of the two children that has afflicted... my heart, so for her, as long as I live, there is no fulfillment (of my desire).
وسار فلان سيرا نجيحا أي وشيكا.
And so-and-so traveled a swift journey, meaning a quick one.
وسير ناجح ونجيح: وشيك، وكذلك المكان
And a successful and swift journey: quick, and likewise the place.
يغبقهن قربا نجيحا
He waters them with a swift drink.
فقرينا ناجحا ... موطنا، نسأل عنه ما فعل
So we arrived at a successful... dwelling, asking about what he did.
ونهض نجيح: مجد
And a swift progress: glory.
يقربه النهض النجيح لما به، ... ومنه بدو تارة ومثيل
The glorious progress brings him closer to what he needs, ... and from it is sometimes a beginning and a likeness.
ورجل نجيح: منجح الحاجات
And a successful man: one who fulfills needs.
نجيح جواد أخو ماقط، ... نقاب يحدث بالغائب
Generous and successful, brother of Maqit, ... a veil that reveals the absent.
ورأي نجيح: صواب.
And a successful opinion: correct.
يا جليح أمر نجيح، رجل فصيح، يقول لا إله إلا الله.
O clear one of a successful matter, an eloquent man, saying 'There is no god but Allah'.
وتناجحت أحلامه.
And his dreams followed each other truthfully.
وتناجحت عليه أحلامه تتابع صدقها.
And his dreams followed each other truthfully, their truthfulness succeeding one another.
أنجح بك الباطل أي غلبك الباطل.
Falsehood has overcome you, meaning falsehood has defeated you.
وإذا غلبته، فقد أنجحت به.
And if you overcome it, you have overcome it.
والنجاحة: الصبر.
And al-najaha: patience.
وما نفسي عنه بنجيحة أي بصابرة
And my soul is not patient with it, meaning not enduring.
ولا أن تكون النفس عنها نجيحة ... بشيء، ولا.
Nor that the soul should be patient with it... with anything, no.
وقد سموا نجيحا ونجيحا ومنجحا ونجاحا.
And they named them Najiha, Najiha, Munjih, and Najaah.
