And the gossips have increased between me and him, ... just as Sadiḥ and 'Alaq were not absent from the sight of Dhibyan, more so between me because it is in the meaning of 'sa'ā' (striving).

And he prostrated him, so he is masduḥ and sadīḥ: he threw him down like 'saṭaḥa'.

Between the Arak trees and the date palms, they are laid flat... by the blue spearheads, with dew on their edges.

إنما هو تسدحهم، وكان الأصمعي يعيب من يرويه تشدخهم، ويقول: الأسنة لا تشدخ إنما ذلك يكون بحجر أو دبوس أو عمود أو نحو ذلك مما لا قطع له

It is only 'tasadduḥuhum' (laying them flat), and Al-Asma'i used to criticize whoever narrated it as 'tashdikhuhum' (crushing them), saying: Spearheads do not crush; that is done by a stone, a mace, a pillar, or something similar that is not sharp.
