ما ربحوا في تجارتهم، لأن التجارة لا تربح، إنما يربح فيها ويوضع فيها.
What they profited in their trade, because trade itself does not profit, rather one profits in it and it is placed within it.
جعل الفعل للتجارة، وهي لا تربح وإنما يربح فيها.
He attributed the verb to the trade, which does not profit, but rather one profits within it.
ونمت وما ليل المطي بنائم.
And I slept, and the night of the mounts was not a sleeping one.
متجر رابح وربيح للذي يربح فيه.
A profitable and gainful shop for the one who profits in it.
ذاك مال رابح أي ذو ربح.

أعطيته ربحا، وقد أربحه بمتاعه.

والربح: ما اشتري من الإبل للتجارة.
And 'al-ribh': what is bought of camels for trade.
والربح: الفصال، واحدها رابح.
And 'al-ribh': the young camels, its singular is 'rabih'.
والربح: الفصيل، وجمعه رباح مثل جمل وجمال.
And 'al-ribh': the young camel, and its plural is 'ribah' like 'jamal' and 'jamal'.
والربح: الشحم.
And 'al-ribh': fat.
قروا أضيافهم ربحا ببح.
They regaled their guests with fat, abundantly.
والربح هنا يكون الشحم ويكون الفصال.
And 'al-ribh' here can be fat and it can be young camels.
أعوزهم الكبار فتقامروا على الفصال.
They lacked adult animals, so they gambled for the young camels.
أربح الرجل إذا نحر لضيفانه الربح، وهي الفصلان الصغار.

رابح وربح مثل حارس وحرس.
'Rabih' and 'ribh' like 'haris' and 'hiras'.
ومن رواه ربحا، فهو ولد الناقة.

قد هدلت أفواه ذي الربوح.
The mouths of the young camels were dangling.
الربح هاهنا جمع رابح كخادم خدم، وهي الفصال.
'Al-ribh' here is the plural of 'rabih' like 'khadim' and 'khadam', and it refers to the young camels.
والربح: من أولاد الغنم، وهو أيضا طائر يشبه الزاغ.
And 'al-ribh': from the offspring of sheep, and it is also a bird resembling a crow.
مثلما مدت نصاحات الربح.
Like the stretching of the young camels' necks.
وقيل: إنه أراد الربع، فأبدل الحاء من العين.
And it was said: he intended 'al-rub' (quarter), so he substituted 'ha' for 'ayn'.
والربح: ما يربحون من الميسر.
And 'al-ribh': what they gain from the lottery.
والرباح: القرد الذكر.
And 'al-ribah': the male ape.
وإلقة ترغث رباحها.
And a female ape nursing her young.
رباحها: ولدها.
Her 'rubah': her young.
وترغث: ترضع.
And 'targhath': to nurse.
والسهل: الغراب.
And 'al-sahl': the crow.
والنوفل: البحر.
And 'al-nawfal': the sea.
والنضر: الذهب.
And 'al-nadr': gold.
الذيخ: ذكر الضباع.
'Al-dikh': the male hyena.
والتيتل: المسن من الوعول.
And 'al-titl': the old mountain goat.
والغفر: ولد الأروية، وهي الأنثى من الوعول أيضا.
And 'al-ghufr': the young of the mountain goat, and it is also the female mountain goat.
والأعصم: الذي في يديه بياض.
And 'al-a'sam': one who has whiteness on his hands.
والجأبة: بقرة الوحش.
And 'al-ja'bah': the wild cow.
وإذا قلت: جأبة المدرى، فهي الظبية.
And if you say: 'ja'bat al-midra', it is the gazelle.
والتتفل: ولد الثعلب.
And 'al-tatfal': the young fox.
الناس دأبا في طلاب الثرى، فكلهم من شأنه الختر.
People are constantly seeking wealth, so all of them are characterized by deceit.
كأذؤب تنهسها أذؤب، لها عواء، ولها زفر.
Like wolves that wolves bite, they have howling and panting.
تراهم فوضى، وأيدي سبا، كل له، في نفسه، سحر.
You see them in disarray, and with cunning hands, each one has, within himself, magic.
تبارك الله وسبحانه.
Blessed is Allah and exalted is He.
رباح اسم للقرد.
'Rubah' is a name for the ape.
شآمية زرق العيون، كأنها ربابيح تنزو، أو فرار مزلم.
Syrian, blue-eyed, as if they were leaping apes, or fleeing from a slippery place.
الرباح القرد، وهو الهوبر والحودل.
'Al-rubah' is the ape, and it is 'al-huwbar' and 'al-hudal'.
وقيل: هو ولد القرد، وقيل: الجدي.
And it was said: it is the young of the ape, and it was said: the kid goat.
وقيل: الرباح الفصيل، والحاشية الصغير الضاوي.
And it was said: 'al-rubah' is the young camel, and the small, emaciated young goat.
حطت به الدلو إلى قعر الطوي، كأنما حطت برباح ثني.
The bucket was lowered with it to the bottom of the well, as if it were lowered with a two-year-old young camel.
كيف يكون فصيلا صغيرا، وقد جعله ثنيا، والثني ابن خمس سنين؟
How can it be a small young camel, when he made it a two-year-old, and a two-year-old is five years old?
ومسبكم سفيان ثم تركتم، تنتجون تنتج الرباح.
And your ancestor Sufyan, then you left, producing the young camels.
والرباح: دويبة مثل السنور.
And 'al-rubah': a small animal like a civet.
والرباح أيضا دويبة كالسنور يجلب منه الكافور.
And 'al-rubah' is also a small animal like a civet from which camphor is brought.
وهو وهم، لأن الكافور لا يجلب من دابة، وإنما هو صمغ شجر بالهند.
And this is an error, because camphor is not brought from an animal, but rather it is tree resin in India.
ورباح: موضع هناك ينسب إليه الكافور، فيقال كافور رباحي.
And 'Rubah': a place there to which camphor is attributed, so it is said 'Rubahi camphor'.
والزبادة التي يجلب منها الطيب ليس بكافور، وإنما يسمى باسم الدابة، فيقال له الزبادة.
And 'al-zubadah' from which perfume is brought is not camphor, but rather it is named after the animal, so it is called 'al-zubadah'.
والرباح أيضا بلد يجلب منه الكافور.
And 'al-rubah' is also a country from which camphor is imported.
ورباح: اسم.
And 'Rubah': a name.
هذا مقام قدمي رباح اسم ساق.
This is the place of the foot of Rubah, the name of a leg.
والمربح: فرس الحرث بن دلف.
And 'al-mirbah': the horse of Al-Harith ibn Dhaluf.
والربح: الفصيل كأنه لغة في الربع.
And 'al-ribh': the young camel, as if it were a variant pronunciation for 'al-rub' (quarter).
