فإذا أرادوا أن يكسروا حد سمه خلطوه بالعدس فيصير دواء لمن عضه الكلب الكلب: والجمع ذراح «2» وذراريح؛

And when they wanted to break the edge of its poison, they mixed it with lentils, and it becomes medicine for one bitten by a mad dog: and the plural is dhirah and dhararih;

فلما رأت أن لا يجيب دعاءها، ... سقته، على لوح، دماء الذرارح

And when she saw that he would not answer her call, ... she gave him to drink, on a plank, the blood of the dhararih.

Sibawayh said: The singular of al-Dhararih is Dharharah, and he does not consider 'fa'ul' to have a singular form, and he used to say 'sabouh qaddous', with a fatha on the first letter of each.

وذرحرح فعلعل، بضم الفاء وفتح العينين، فإذا صغرت حذفت اللام الأولى، وقلت ذريرح، لأنه ليس في الكلام فعلع إلا حدرد.

And Dharharah is 'fa'al'al', with a damma on the fa and fatha on the two 'ayn's, and when you make it diminutive, you omit the first lam and say 'dhareerih', because there is no 'fa'al' in the language except 'hadrad'.
