Ibn Sidah said: And I think Al-Lahyani narrated 'bahah tabahh', and it is rare because such a thing is usually assimilated and not separated. He also said: a hoarse man, and it is not said 'baah'; and a hoarse woman and a hoarse one;
وفي صوته بَحَّةٌ، بالضم.
And in his voice is a hoarseness, with dammah.
ويقال: ما زلتُ أُصِيحُ حتى أَبْحَنِي ذلك.
And it is said: I kept shouting until that made me hoarse.
قال الأزهري: بَحَحْتُ أَبَحُّ هي اللغة العالية، قال: وبَحَحْتُ، بالفتح، أَبَحُّ، لغة ؛
Al-Azhari said: 'bahah abahh' is the elevated dialect. He said: and 'bahah abahh', with fatha, is a dialect;
وأَبَحُّ جُنْدِيٌّ، وثاقبة ... سبكت، كثاقبة من الجمر أراد بالأَبَحِّ: دينارا أَبَحُّ في صوته.
And a hoarse dinar, and a piercing one... cast like a piercing ember. He intended by 'al-abahh': a dinar that is hoarse in its sound.

They are the diviners, if Jumada is dry, ... with every layered cloud and rain. He said: and al-sabir is from the clouds that pile up layer upon layer, and it is narrated: their bounty brings the wiping. He meant by 'al-bahh' the lots that have no sounds.
وكَسْرُ أَبَحَّ: كثير المُخِّ؛
And kasr abahh: rich in marrow;
والبَحْبَحِيُّ الواسع في النفقة، الواسع في المنزل.
And al-bahbahiyy: generous in spending, spacious in dwelling.
وتبحبح في المجد أي أنه في مجد واسع.
And he dwelled comfortably in glory, meaning he was in vast glory.
وجعل الفراء التبحبح من الباحة، ولم يجعله من المضاعف.
And Al-Farra' made al-tabahbah from 'al-bahah' and did not make it from the doubled roots.

And Al-Kisa'i claimed that he heard a man from Banu 'Amir say: If we were asked 'Do you have anything left?', we would say: 'bahbah', meaning nothing remained.
