وأفنت أصول الوشيج ؛ قيل: هو ما التف من الشجر؛ أراد أن السنة أفنت أصولها إذ لم يبق في الأرض ثرى.
And the roots of al-washij were depleted; it was said: it is what is intertwined of trees; he meant that the year depleted its roots as there was no moisture left in the earth.
