And it is mafa'ilun mafa'ilun, on this structure all four parts, named so because of the closeness of its parts, and it is a hexameter in origin, analogous to its two companions in the circle, which are al-rajaz and al-ramal, as the composition of each of them is from a metrical foot (watad majmu') and two light syllables (sabab khafif).

Abu Ishaq said: Al-tahazzuj is the repetition of embellishment in the voice; and it was said: Al-tahazzuj is a prolonged sound not high-pitched; Ibn al-A'rabi recited: As if the sound of her jewelry was speaking... the wind chanting/prolonging its sound in the east.

And the bow made a sound when it twanged upon releasing the arrow; Al-Kumait said: Its lord and the people did not blame it, ... except for its warning to the donkeys with songs/melodies from its loud songs, ... and its following of the wailing and the sighing.

Satan turned away, and he had a certain sound (hazaj), and in another narration: a lesser sound (wazaj).
الهزج: الرنة. والوزج: دونه، وقد استعمل ابن الأعرابي الهزج في معنى العواء؛ وأنشد بيت عنترة: وكأنما تنأى بجانب دفها الوحشي، ... من هزج العشي، مؤوم
Al-hazaj: the ringing sound. And al-wazaj: less than it. And Ibn al-A'rabi used al-hazaj to mean howling; and he recited the verse of Antarah: And as if it were moving away with the side of its wild flank, ... from the howling of the evening, a fly/wild ass
