It is said of a man as ghamlaj, ghamlij, ghamlij, ghamluj, ghammaj, and ghamalij if he is sometimes a reader and sometimes a rogue, sometimes generous and sometimes stingy, sometimes brave and sometimes cowardly, sometimes good-natured and sometimes ill-tempered, not remaining in one state, and he is blameworthy and censured among the Arabs.

ويقال للمرأة غملج وغملج وغمليجة وغملوجة

And it is said of a woman as ghamlaj, ghamlij, ghamlijah, and ghamlujah.

ألا لا تغرن امرأ عمرية ... على غملج، طالت وتم قوامها

Indeed, do not let a woman of 'umriyyah deceive a man... who is inconsistent, whose stature is long and complete.

وتارة يغرقها غملجه

And at another time, its wide expanse engulfs it.

والغملج الخرق الواسع.

And al-ghamlaj is the wide expanse.

والغملج: الطويل المسترخي.

And al-ghamlaj: the long and relaxed one.

وبعير غملج: طويل العنق في غلظ وتقاعس.

And a ghamlaj camel: long-necked with bulkiness and sluggishness.
