It is said: the camel zalajat tanzaliju zalajan if it moved swiftly as if its legs were not moving from its speed;
حتى إذا زلجت عن كل حنجرة ... إلى الغليل، ولم يقصعنه، نغب
Until it slid from every throat ... to the thirst, and they did not quench it, they drank.
سرنا عقبة زلوجا وزلوقا أي بعيدة طويلة.

The mizaleej of the people of Basra: when a woman leaves her house and there is no trustworthy guard in it, she leaves and bolts her door, and she has a hooked key like the keys of mizaleej made of iron, and in the door is a hole, so the key is slid into it, and she bolts her door with it.
وقد زلجت بابها زلجا إذا أغلقته بالمزلاج.
And she has zalajat her door zalajan if she bolted it with the mizlaaj.
ومكان زلج وزلج أيضا، بالتحريك، أي زلق.
And a place zalij and zalij, with haraka, meaning slippery.
والتزلج: التزلق.
And al-tazalluj: al-tazalluq (slipping).
فزلج بين كتفيه ، يعني بالجيم، قال: وهو غلط.
So it zalaja between his shoulders, meaning with the jim, he said: and this is a mistake.
والسهم يزلج على وجه الأرض ويمضي مضاء زلجا،
And the arrow yalzaju on the face of the earth and moves with zaljan speed,

Al-zalij of arrows is when the archer shoots it and it falls short of the target, and hits a rock with a hard impact, and it rebounds from hitting the rock, so it gains strength and rises to the target paper, and is not counted as hitting the target, so its owner is told: there is no good in a zalij arrow.
وسهم زالج: يتزلج عن القوس؛ وفي نسخة: ينزلج عن القوس.
And a zalij arrow: it slides from the bow; and in one version: it descends from the bow.
والمزلاج من النساء: الرسحاء.
And al-mizlaaj from women: al-rashaa' (wide-hipped).
والمزلج: البخيل.
And al-muzlij: the miser.
والمزلج من العيش: المدافع بالبلغة؛
And al-muzlij from life: one who gets by with just enough;
عتق النجاء، وعيش فيه تزليج
Swift escape, and a life with just enough to get by.
والمزلج: الدون من كل شيء.
And al-muzlij: the inferior of everything.
وحب مزلج: فيه تغرير؛
And muzlij love: it contains deception;
وقالت: ألا قد طال ما قد غررتنا ... بخدع، وهذا منك حب مزلج
And she said: Indeed, for a long time you have deceived us ... with trickery, and this from you is muzlij love.
والمزلج: الذي ليس بتام الحزم؛
And al-muzlij: one who is not fully resolute;
مخارم الليل لهن بهرج، ... حين ينام الورع المزلج
The ravines of the night have their splendor, ... when the muzlij pious person sleeps.
وقيل: هو الناقص الدون الضعيف؛
And it was said: he is the deficient, inferior, weak one;
وقيل: هو الناقص الخلق؛
And it was said: he is deficient in creation;
وقيل: المزلج الملزق بالقوم وليس منهم؛
And it was said: al-muzlij is one who clings to people but is not among them;
وقيل: الدعي.
And it was said: the adopted one.
وعطاء مزلج: مدبق لم يتم.
And muzlij giving: sticky and incomplete.
وكل ما لم تبالغ فيه ولم تحكمه، فهو مزلج.
And everything that you do not excel in and do not master, it is muzlij.
وعطاء مزلج أي وتح قليل.
And muzlij giving, meaning a small amount.
وزلج فلان كلامه تزليجا إذا أخرجه وسيره؛
And so-and-so zalaja his speech tazliijan if he brought it out and made it flow;
وصالحة العهد زلجتها ... لواعي الفؤاد، حفيظ الأذن
And I made her good promises flow ... to the attentive heart, the listener who retains.
وتزلج النبيذ والشراب: ألح في شربه؛ عن اللحياني، كتسلجه.
And tazallaja wine and drink: to persist in drinking it; from Al-Lihyani, like tasallujuhu.
والزالج: الذي يشرب شربا شديدا من كل شيء.
And al-zalij: one who drinks intensely of everything.
وتركت فلانا يتزلج النبيذ أي يلح في شربه.
And I left so-and-so tazallaj the wine, meaning persisting in drinking it.
والزالج: الناجي من الغمرات؛ يقال زلج يزلج فيهما جميعا.
And al-zalij: the survivor of hardships; it is said zalaja yalzaju in both.
الزلج السراح من جميع الحيوان.
Al-zalj is the easy passage of all animals.
