And al-khuluj from the she-camels are those whose young have been separated from them, thus their milk is reduced.
وقد خلجتها أي فطمت ولدها.
And you have khulajtuha, meaning you weaned her young.
والخليج: الجفنة، والجمع خلج؛ قال لبيد: ويكللون، إذا الرياح تناوحت، ... خلجا تمد شوارعا أيتامها
And al-khaleej is the serving dish, and the plural is khuluj; Labid said: And they adorn it, when the winds blow, ... with khuluj, whose orphans are extended.
وجفنة خلوج: قعيرة كثيرة الأخذ من الماء.

And an ikhleej horse is a swift steed; Al-Tahdhib: And the saying of Ibn Muqbil: And he made a long-striding horse, when the cavalry exerted themselves, ... ran with the equipment of a strong man, and the strong man was lean.
قال: الأخلج الطويل من الخيل الذي يخلج الشد خلجا أي يجذبه، كما قال طرفة: خلج الشد مشيحات الحزم
He said: Al-akhlaj is the long horse that pulls the stride, meaning it draws it, as Tarfah said: pulling the stride, traversing the firm ground.
والخلاج والخلاس: ضروب من البرود مخططة؛ قال ابن أحمر: إذا انفرجت عنه سمادير خلفه، ... ببردين من ذاك الخلاج المسهم
And al-khallaj and al-khallas are types of striped cloths; Ibn Ahmar said: When the cloaks behind him parted, ... with two garments of that striped khallaj.
ويروى من ذاك الخلاس.
And it is narrated from that al-khallas.
وهم قوم من العرب كانوا من عدوان، فألحقهم عمر بن الخطاب، رضي الله عنه، بالحرث بن مالك بن النضر بن كنانة، وسموا بذلك لأنهم اختلجوا من عدوان.
And they were a people from the Arabs who were from 'Adwan, so Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, attached them to Al-Harith ibn Malik ibn Al-Nadr ibn Kinanah, and they were named thus because they were separated from 'Adwan.
وقوم خلج إذا شك في أنسابهم فتنازع النسب قوم، وتنازعه آخرون؛ ومنه قول الكميت: أم أنتم خلج أبناء عهار
And a people khulj if their lineage is doubted, so some people dispute the lineage, and others dispute it; and from this is the saying of Al-Kumait: Or are you khulj, sons of fornication?
ورجل مختلج: وهو الذي نقل عن قومه ونسبه فيهم إلى قوم آخرين، فاختلف في نسبه وتنوزع فيه.
And a man mukhtalij is one who is transferred from his people and attributed among them to other people, so his lineage is disputed and contested.
إذا كان الرجل مختلجا فسرك أن لا تكذب فانسبه إلى أمه؛
If a man is mukhtalij, and you wish not to lie, then attribute him to his mother.
وقال غيره: هم الخلج الذين انتقلوا بنسبهم إلى غيرهم.
And others said: They are the khulj who transferred their lineage to others.
ويقال: رجل مختلج إذا نوزع في نسبه كأنه جذب منهم وانتزع.
And it is said: a mukhtalij man if his lineage is disputed, as if he were pulled and snatched from them.
وخليج الأعيوي: شاعر ينسب إلى بني أعي حي من جرم.
And Khulayj Al-A'yawi is a poet attributed to the Banu A'y, a branch of Jurm.
يقول فيه أبوه منازل «2»: تظلمني حقي خليج، وعقني ... على حين كانت، كالحني، عظامي
His father Manazil says about him: Khulayj wrongs me of my right, and disobeys me ... at a time when my bones were, like the bent ones, old.
وقول الطرماح يصف كلابا: موعبات لأخلج الشدق سلعام، ... ممر مفتولة عضده كلب أخلج الشدق: واسعه.
And the saying of Al-Tirmmah describing dogs: They are brought forth for a wide-mouthed, swift dog, ... a dog with a twisted foreleg, a wide-mouthed dog: its mouth is wide.
