وَقَالَ أَبُو نَصْرٍ: هِيَ البَعِيدَةُ المَسْلَكِ الدَّائِمَةُ الهُبُوبِ.
And Abu Nasr said: it is the far-reaching, continuously blowing one.
وَقَدْ خَجَتْ تَخِجُّ؛ وَأَنْشَدَ أَبُو عَمْرٍو: وَخَجَتِ النِّيرَجُ مِنْ خَرِيقِهَا
And it has khajat, yakjij; and Abu Amr recited: And the Niyraj twisted from its opening.
فَبَعَثَ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ السَّكِينَةَ وَهِيَ رِيحٌ خَجُوجٌ لَهَا رَأْسٌ فَتَطَوَّقَتْ بِالبَيْتِ كَطَوْقِ الحَجْفَةِ، ثُمَّ اسْتَقَرَّتْ.
So Allah sent down to him the Sakinah, and it was a khujuj wind with a head, and it encircled the House like the hoop of a shield, then it settled.
وَقَالَ الأَصْمَعِيُّ: الخَجُوجُ الرِّيحُ الشَّدِيدَةُ المَرُّ؛ وَقَالَ ابْنُ شِمَيْلٍ: هِيَ الشَّدِيدَةُ الهُبُوبِ الخَوَارَةُ لَا تَكُونُ إِلَّا فِي الصَّيْفِ، وَلَيْسَتْ بِشَدِيدَةِ الحَرِّ.
And Al-Asma'i said: Al-Khajuj is the intensely bitter wind; and Ibn Shumayl said: it is the strong, roaring wind, and it only occurs in summer, and it is not intensely hot.
وَقِيلَ: رِيحٌ خَجُوجٌ أَيْ شَدِيدَةُ المُرُورِ فِي غَيْرِ اسْتِوَاءٍ.
And it was said: a khujuj wind, meaning intensely passing without being straight.
وَفِي حَدِيثِ الَّذِي بَنَى الكَعْبَةَ لِقُرَيْشٍ: كَانَ رُومِيًّا فِي سَفِينَةٍ أَصَابَتْهَا رِيحٌ فَخَجَّتْهَا أَيْ صَرَفَتْهَا عَنْ جِهَتِهَا وَمَقْصِدِهَا بِشِدَّةِ عَصْفِهَا.
And in the hadith of the one who built the Kaaba for Quraysh: He was a Roman on a ship that a wind struck, and it 'khajjat' it, meaning it turned it from its direction and its destination with the intensity of its storm.
وَفِي النَّوَادِرِ: النَّاسُ يَهْجُونَ هَذَا الوَادِيَ هَجًا وَيَخِجُونَهُ خَجًّا أَيْ يَنْحَدِرُونَ فِيهِ وَيَطَؤُونَهُ كَثِيرًا.
And in Al-Nawadir: The people descend this valley, descending, and they tread it, treading, meaning they descend into it and tread it frequently.
وَخَجَّ بِهَا: ضَرَطَ.
And he khajjat with it: he farted.
وَخَجَّ بِرِجْلِهِ: نَسَفَ بِهَا التُّرَابَ في مَشْيِهِ.
And he khajjat with his foot: he kicked up dust with it in his walking.
وَخَجْخَجَ الرَّجُلُ: لَمْ يُبْدِ مَا فِي نَفْسِهِ.
And the man khajkhaj: he did not reveal what was in his self.
وَالخَجْخَجَةُ: سُرْعَةُ الإِنَاخَةِ وَالحُلُولِ.
And Al-Khajkhajah: the quickness of settling down and alighting.
وَالخَجْخَجَةُ: الانْقِبَاضُ وَالاسْتِخْفَاءُ في مَوْضِعٍ خَفِيٍّ، وَفِي التَّهْذِيبِ: في مَوْضِعٍ يُخْفَى فِيهِ.
And Al-Khajkhajah: the withdrawal and hiding in a hidden place, and in Al-Tahdhib: in a place where one is hidden.
وَرَجُلٌ خَجَّاجَةٌ: أَحْمَقُ لَا يَعْقِلُ.
And a khajajah man: foolish, not rational.
وَالخَجْخَاجُ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ: الَّذِي يُرِي أَنَّهُ جَادٌّ في أَمْرِهِ وَلَيْسَ كَمَا يُرِي.
And Al-Khajkhaj among men: he who appears to be serious in his matter but is not as he appears.
وَالخَجُّ: الجِمَاعُ.
And Al-Khajj: sexual intercourse.
وَخَجَّ جَارِيَتَهُ: مَسَحَهَا.
And he khajjat his female slave: he caressed her.
وَاخْتَجَّ الجَمَلُ وَالنَّاشِطُ في سَيْرِهِ وَعَدْوِهِ إِذَا لَمْ يَسْتَقِمْ، وَذَلِكَ سُرْعَةٌ مَعَ التِوَاءٍ.
