A man came to him asking for something, and he said: I am ruined. So Umar said: Be quiet! Are you ruined while you sweat like the sweat of boiled meat?

ويروى نثيث الحميت.

And it is narrated: naitheeth al-hameet.

نث الزق ينث، بالكسر، نثيثا ونثا إذا رشح بما فيه من السمن؛

The waterskin leaked, yanithu, with kasra, naitheethan and nathan, if it oozed the fat within it;

أتهلك وجسدك كأنه يقطر دسما؟

Are you ruined while your body is as if dripping with fat?

قال أبو عبيد: النثيث أن يعرق ويرشح من عظمه وكثرة لحمه.

Abu Ubaid said: Al-naitheeth is to sweat and ooze from one's bones and abundance of flesh.

وقال غيره: نث الحميت ومث، بالنون والميم، إذا رشح ما فيه من السمن.

And others said: nath al-hameet and math, with the letter noon and meem, if what is in it of fat oozes out.

ينث ويمث نثا ونثيثا.

He oozes and sweats, nathan and naitheethan.

وفي التهذيب: أما قولك نث الحديث ينثه نثا، فهو بضم النون لا غير، وذلك إذا أذاعه.

And in Al-Tahdheeb: As for your saying 'nath al-hadeeth yanithuhu nathan', it is with damma on the noon and nothing else, and that is when he makes it public.

وفي حديث أم زرع: لا تنث حديثنا تنثيثا ، النث: كالبث؛ تقول لا تفشي أسرارنا ولا تطلع الناس على أحوالنا.

And in the Hadith of Umm Zar'ah: Do not spread our news, tanatheethan. Al-nath is like al-bath; meaning, do not reveal our secrets and do not inform people of our affairs.

والتنثيث: مصدر ينثث، فأجراه على ينث، ويروى بالباء الموحدة.

And al-tanatheeth: is the masdar of yanathath, and he made it follow the pattern of yanith, and it is narrated with the unpointed baa.

والنثيثة: رشح الزق أو السقاء.

And al-naitheetha: is the seepage of the waterskin or the skin container.

والنث: الحائط الندي المسترخي.

And al-nath: is the damp, sagging wall.

وكلام غث نث: إتباع.
