والحربث: بقلة نحو الأيهقان صفراء غبراء تعجب المال، وهي من نبات السهل؛
And al-Harbath: a herb like al-ayhaqan, yellowish-grey, which livestock admire, and it is from the plants of the lowlands;
وقال أبو حنيفة: الحربث نبت ينبسط على الأرض، له ورق طوال، وبين ذلك الطوال ورق صغار؛
And Abu Hanifa said: Al-Harbath is a plant that spreads on the ground, it has long leaves, and between those long ones are small leaves;
وقال أبو زياد: الحربث عشب من أحرار البقل؛
And Abu Ziyad said: Al-Harbath is a grass from the noble herbs;
الأزهري: الحربث من أطيب المراعي؛
Al-Azhari: Al-Harbath is from the finest pastures;
ويقال: أطيب الغنم لبنا ما أكل الحربث والسعدان.
And it is said: The sheep that produce the most milk are those that eat al-Harbath and al-Sa'dan.
