And it is said: shyness cut off speech when it severed it.
وإن تحدثك تبلت أي ينقطع كلامها من خفرها.
And if she speaks to you, she cuts off speech, meaning her speech is cut off from her shyness.
والبليت: الفصيح الذي يبلت الناس أي يقطعهم؛
And al-balit: the eloquent one who silences people, meaning he cuts them off;
يشاهل العميثل البليتا، ... الصمكيك، الهشم، الزميتا
He contends with al-Umaythil the eloquent, ... al-Samkik, al-Hashim, al-Zamīt.
وتبا له بلتا أي قطعا؛
And woe to him, a cutting, meaning a severance;
لئن فعلت كذا وكذا، ليكونن بلتة بيني وبينك إذا أوعده بالهجران؛
If you do such and such, there will be a severance between me and you if he threatens him with abandonment;
وكذلك بتلة ما بيني وبينك بمعناه.

يقال أبلته يمينا إذا أحلفته، والفعل بلت بلتا، وأصبرته أي أحلفته، وقد صبر يمينا،

وأبلته أنا يمينا أي حلفت له.
And I ablatuhu yaminan means I swore to him.
وإن تحدثك تبلت أي توجز.
And if she speaks to you, she cuts off speech, meaning she is concise.
وما زوجت إلا بمهر مبلت أي مضمون، بلغة حمير.
