And it is said: 'Al-wakb' is standing erect, and 'al-wakiba' is standing, and so-and-so is 'muwakib' on a matter, and 'awakaba' means persistent, diligent.

And 'tawkib' is the approaching of ripeness.

والوكب: الوسخ يعلو الجلد والثوب؛ وقد وكب يوكب وكبا، ووسب وسبا، وحشن حشنا إذا ركبه الوسخ والدرن.
