When the crow's chick hatches from its egg, it is white like fat. When the parent crow sees it, it disowns it and abandons it, not feeding it. Then God sends flies to it, which fall on it due to its strong smell, and it picks them up and lives on them until its feathers grow and turn black, then its father and mother return to it.
وربما قالوا: نعب الديك، على الاستعارة
And sometimes they say: the rooster crowed, metaphorically.
وبقهوة صهباء، باكرتها ... بجهمة، والديك لم ينعب
And with a reddish wine, I had it early... in the darkness, and the rooster had not yet crowed.
ونعب المؤذن كذلك
And the muezzin calls out similarly.
وأنعب الرجل إذا نعر في الفتن
And a man cries out if he incites discord in times of strife.
والنعيب أيضا: صوت الفرس

And it was said: 'al-mun'ab' is one who strikes with its head, and there is no further advantage in its presence.
والمنعب: الأحمق المصوت؛ قال إمرؤ القيس: فللساق ألهوب، وللسوط درة، ... وللزجر منه وقع أهوج منعب
And 'al-mun'ab': the foolish noisy one; Imru' al-Qais said: For the leg there is a gallop, and for the whip a lash, ... and for the urging, from him is the impact of a wild, noisy one.
والنعب: من سير الإبل؛ وقيل: النعب أن يحرك البعير رأسه إذا أسرع، وهو من سير النجائب، يرفع رأسه، فينعب نعبانا
And 'al-na'b': is from the gait of camels; and it was said: 'al-na'b' is when the camel moves its head when it speeds up, and it is from the gait of swift camels, raising its head, and moving with a 'na'ban'.
ونعب البعير ينعب نعبا: وهو ضرب من السير، وقيل من السرعة، كالنحب
And the camel moves quickly, it moves with a 'na'b': which is a type of gait, and it was said, of speed, like 'nahb'.
وناقة ناعبة، ونعوب، ونعابة، ومنعب: سريعة، والجمع نعب؛ يقال: إن النعب تحرك رأسها، في المشي، إلى قدام
And a swift she-camel, 'na'ibah', 'na'ub', 'na''abah', and 'mun'ab': is swift, and the plural is 'na'b'; it is said: the 'na'b' moves its head forward while walking.
وريح نعب: سريعة المر؛ أنشد ابن الأعرابي: أحدرن، واستوى بهن السهب، ... وعارضتهن جنوب نعب
And a swift wind: bitter and fast; Ibn al-A'rabi recited: They descended, and the plain became level for them, ... and a swift south wind opposed them.
