And in the narration of Abdullah bin Umar: He came to Ta'if, and he saw male goats mounting or bleating over the ewes.

And he prolonged and improved his work.

And so-and-so acted arrogantly when he became proud.
وكنا إذا الجبار نب عتوده، ... ضربناه تحت الأنثيين على الكرد
And we, when the tyrant acted arrogantly, ... we struck him below the testicles on the flank.
الليث: الأنبوب والأنبوبة: ما بين العقدتين في القصب والقناة، وهي أفعولة، والجمع أنبوب وأنابيب
Al-Layth said: The unbub and the unbubah are what is between the two nodes in a reed and a canal, and it is on the pattern 'af'ulah', and the plural is unbub and anabib.
ابن سيده: أنبوب القصبة والرمح: كعبهما
Ibn Sidah said: The unbub of a reed and a spear is their node.
ونببت العجلة، وهي بقلة مستطيلة مع الأرض: صارت لها أنابيب أي كعوب؛ وأنبوب النبات، كذلك
And the 'ajalah, which is a plant that grows flat on the ground, became having anabib, meaning nodes; and the unbub of the plant is likewise.
وأنابيب الرئة: مخارج النفس منها، على التشبيه بذلك
And the anabib of the lung are the outlets of breath from it, by way of analogy.
يجوز أن يعني بالأنبب أنابيب الرئة، كأنه حذف زوائد أنبوب، فقال نب؛ ثم كسره على أنب، ثم أظهر التضعيف، وكل ذلك للضرورة
It is permissible that 'anbab' refers to the anabib of the lung, as if he omitted the extra letters of 'unbub', so he said 'nab'; then he broke it into 'anb', then he showed the doubling, and all of that is for necessity.
وأنبوب القرن: ما فوق العقد إلى الطرف؛ وأنشد: بسلب أنبوبه مدرى
And the unbub of the horn is what is above the node to the tip; and he recited: With the sheath of its unbub, a scraper.
والأنبوب: السطر من الشجر
And the unbub is a row of trees.
وأنبوب الجبل: طريقة فيه، هذلية
And the unbub of the mountain is a path in it, a track.

Al-Asma'i said: It is said, 'Adhere to the unbub', which is the path, and 'Adhere to the manhar', which is the intention.
