ولحب الجزار ما على ظهر الجزور: أخذه.
And the butcher lahaba what is on the back of the camel: he took it.
ولحب اللحم عن العظم يلحبه لحبا: قشره
And lahaba the meat from the bone, yalhuba-hu lahban: he peeled it.
واللحب: الطريق الواضح، واللاحب مثله
And al-lahb: the clear path, and al-lahib is similar.
تقول منه: لحبه يلحبه لحبا إذا وطئه ومر فيه
You say from it: lahaba-hu yalhuba-hu lahban if you tread upon it and pass through it.
ويقال أيضا: لحب إذا مر مرا مستقيما.
And it is also said: lahaba if he passed in a straight manner.
ولحب الطريق يلحب لحوبا: وضح كأنه قشر الأرض.
And the path lahaba, yalhubu lahuban: became clear as if it were the peeled surface of the earth.
ولحبه يلحبه لحبا: بينه
And lahaba-hu yalhuba-hu lahban: he made it clear.
لا تعف طريقا كان رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، لحبها أي أوضحها ونهجها.
Do not obstruct a path that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, lahaba-ha, meaning he made it clear and showed its way.
وطريق ملحب: كلاحب
And a malhab path: like a lahib (clear path).
طريق لاحب، ولحب، وملحوب إذا كان واضحا
A lahib, wa lahb, and malhub path if it is clear.
التحب فلان محجة الطريق، ولحبها والتحبها إذا ركبها
So-and-so tahabba the main road, and lahaba-ha and tahabba-ha if he rode upon it.
يلحبن، لا يأتلي المطلوب والطلب أي يركبن اللاحب
They traverse, not failing the seeker and the sought, meaning they ride the lahib.
وبه سمي الطريق الموطأ لاحبا، لأنه كأنه لحب أي قشر عن وجهه التراب، فهو ذو لحب.
And by this the trodden path is named lahib, because it is as if it were lahaba, meaning the dust was peeled from its surface, so it is possessed of lahb (clear markings).
رأيت الناس على طريق رحب لاحب.
I saw people on a wide, lahib (clear) path.
اللاحب: الطريق الواسع المنقاد الذي لا ينقطع.
Al-lahib: the wide, easy, continuous path.
ولحب الشيء: أثر فيه
And lahaba the thing: it left a mark on it.
ولحبه: كلحبه.
And lahaba-hu: like lahaba-hu (striking it).
ولحبه بالسياط: ضربه، فأثرت فيه.
And lahaba-hu bi-l-siyāt: he struck him with whips, and they left a mark on him.
ولحب به الأرض أي صرعه.
And lahaba-hu bi-l-arḍi, meaning he threw him down to the ground.
ومر يلحب لحبا أي يسرع.
And he passed yalhbu lahban, meaning he moved quickly.
ولحب يلحب لحبا: نكح.
