وبعير غلالب: يغلب الإبل بسيره، عن اللحياني.
And a camel is ghallab: it overcomes the camels with its pace, according to Al-Lihyani.
واستغلب عليه الضحك: اشتد، كاستغرب.
And laughter overcame him: it intensified, like being surprised.
والغلب: غلظ العنق وعظمها؛ وقيل غلظها مع قصر فيها؛ وقيل: مع ميل يكون ذلك من داء أو غيره.
And al-ghalb: the thickness and size of the neck; and it is said its thickness with shortness in it; and it is said: with a slant, whether that is from illness or otherwise.
غلب غلبا، وهو أغلب: غليظ الرقبة.

And a lion is aghlab and ghalab: thick-necked.
وهضبة غلباء: عظيمة مشرفة.
And a hill is ghalba': large and prominent.
وقبيلة غلباء، عن اللحياني: عزيزة ممتنعة؛ وقد غلبت غلبا.
And a tribe is ghalba', according to Al-Lihyani: strong and unyielding; and it has prevailed with strength.
واغلولب النبت: بلغ كل مبلغ والتف، وخص اللحياني به العشب.
And the plants have become dense: they reached their full extent and intertwined, and Al-Lihyani specified this for grass.
واغلولب القوم إذا كثروا، من اغليلاب العشب.
And the people became numerous, from the denseness of the grass.
وحدائق غلبا ؛ قال: شجرة غلباء إذا كانت غليظة؛

And Tughlib was called Al-Ghalba'; the poet said: And the sons of Al-Ghalba' inherited glory for me ... a new one, after their ancient glory.

And the sons of Al-Ghalba' inherited glory for me.
يجوز بي الأصرام أصرام غالب، ... أقول إذا ما قيل أين تريد: أريد أبا بكر، ولو حال، دونه، ... أماعز تغتال المطي، وبيد
The ruins of Ghalib's ruins pass by me, ... I say when asked where you are going: I want Abu Bakr, even if it changes, without him, ... are there goats that waylay the camels, and in the desert?
والمغلنبي: الذي يغلبك ويعلوك.
