قبل أن يأتي الربة ، يعني اللات
Before coming to Al-Rabbah, meaning Al-Lat.
ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً
Return to your Lord, content and pleasing, and enter among My servants.
إِنَّهُ رَبِّي أَحْسَنَ مَثْوَايَ
Indeed, my Lord has been good to me.
فما قاتلوا عن ربهم وربيبهم
So they did not fight for their Lord and their stepson/owned one.
ربه يربه ربا: ملكه
He owned him, he owned him (verb form): he possessed him.
وطالت مربتهم الناس وربابتهم أي مملكتهم
And their dominion over people and their mastery was long, meaning their kingdom.
وكنت امرأ أفضت إليك ربابتي، ... وقبلك ربتني، فضعت، ربوب
And I was a man to whom my mastery was extended, ... and before you, you nurtured me, and I was lost, a nursling.
وإن لمربوب بين الربوبة أي لمملوك
And he is indeed nurtured under Lordship, meaning owned.
لأن يربني فلان أحب إلي من أن يربني فلان
That so-and-so should be my lord is more beloved to me than that so-and-so should be my lord.
فيسقي ربه خمرا ، أي سيده
He gives his lord to drink wine, meaning his master.
يرب الذي يأتي من العرف أنه، ... إذا سئل المعروف، زاد وتمما
He nurtures him who comes with kindness, that when asked for kindness, he increases and completes.
لأن يربني بنو عمي، أحب إلي من أن يربني غيرهم
That my cousins should be my lords is more beloved to me than that others should be my lords.
وتربب الرجل والأرض: ادعى أنه ربهما
And he claimed to be the lord of the man and the land.
وفي كل دار ربه، خزرجية، ... وأوسية، لي في ذراهن والد
And in every house there is a large dwelling, Khazrajite, ... and Awsite, for whom I have a father in their shade.
والصبي يربه ربا، ورببه تربيبا وتربة، عن اللحياني: بمعنى رباه
And the boy is nurtured by him (rabbahu), and he is nurtured (rabbabahu) with nurturing and upbringing, according to Al-Lihyani: meaning he raised him.
لك نعمة تربها ، أي تحفظها وتراعيها وتربيها
You have a favor that you nurture, meaning you preserve it, care for it, and raise it.

And 'Al-Rabibah': is one of the 'Raba'ib' from the sheep that people raise in their homes for their milk.
ليس في الربائب صدقة
There is no charity due on 'Al-Raba'ib'.
وكان لنا جيران من الأنصار لهم ربائب، وكانوا يبعثون إلينا من ألبانها
And we had neighbors from the Ansar who had 'Raba'ib', and they used to send us from their milk.
لا تأخذ الأكولة، ولا الربى، ولا الماخض
Do not take the one being fattened, nor the 'Rubba', nor the pregnant one.
والرباب، بالفتح: سحاب أبيض
And 'Al-Rabāb', with the fathah: is white cloud.
أنه نظر في الليلة التي أسري به إلى قصر مثل الربابة البيضاء
That he looked on the night of his night journey at a palace like the white 'Rubabah'.
أحدق بكم ربابه
His 'Rubabah' surrounded you.
كأن الرباب، دوين السحاب، ... نعام تعلق بالأرجل
As if the 'Rubab', below the clouds, ... were ostriches clinging to legs.
والمطر يرب النبات والثرى وينميه
And the rain nurtures the plants and the soil and makes them grow.
والمرب: الأرض التي لا يزال بها ثرى
And 'Al-Marabb': is the land that always has moisture.
بأجرع محلال، مرب، محلل
In a fertile plain, a place of gathering, settled.
سموا ربابا، لأنهم جاؤوا برب، فأكلوا منه، وغمسوا فيه أيديهم، وتحالفوا عليه
They were named 'Rubab' because they brought 'rubb', ate from it, dipped their hands in it, and swore allegiance over it.
إذا نسبت الشيء إلى الجمع رددته إلى الواحد، كما تقول في المساجد: مسجدي
When you attribute something to a plural, you return it to the singular, as you say for 'masajid': 'masjidi'.
