A man is a tale-bearer and a slanderer: a nammam, as if he creeps with slander among the people; and it was said: a dayboob, who brings together men and women, and supports them, from creeping, because he creeps among them and hides; and with both meanings, his saying was interpreted, peace be upon him: 'No dayboob nor qallaa' shall enter Paradise'; and it is like his saying, peace be upon him: 'No qattaat shall enter Paradise'.

الدب الكبير: من بنات نعش؛ وقيل: إن ذلك يقع على الكبرى والصغرى، فيقال لكل واحد منهما دب، فإذا أرادوا فصلها، قالوا: الدب الأصغر، والدب الأكبر.
