والأخدب: الذي لا يتمالك من الحمق؛

And al-akhdab: he who cannot control himself from foolishness;

ولست بخزرافة أخدبا

And I am not a khazrafah, an akhdab.

والأخدب: الذي يركب رأسه جرأة.

And al-akhdab: he who acts rashly out of boldness.

وقع القوم في وادي خدبات؛

وقد يقال ذلك فيهم إذا جاروا عن القصد.

And this may be said of them if they deviate from the right path.
