And in the Hadith: Al-hasab is wealth, and al-karam is piety.

Al-Azhari said: And this which Shammir said is correct, and a man's endeavors and his fathers' glories are called 'hasab' because when they boasted, they counted among the glories his merits and his fathers' merits and counted them.
وفي حديث عمر، رضي الله عنه، أنه قال: حسب المرء دينه، ومروءته خلقه، وأصله عقله.
And in the narration of Umar, may God be pleased with him, he said: A person's sufficiency is his religion, his manliness is his character, and his origin is his intellect.
وفي الحديث: أن النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: كرم المرء دينه، ومروءته عقله، وحسبه خلقه ؛
And in the Hadith: That the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: A person's nobility is his religion, his manliness is his intellect, and his sufficiency is his character.
قال لهم: اختاروا إحدى الطائفتين: إما المال، وإما السبي. فقالوا: أما إذ خيرتنا بين المال والحسب، فإنا نختار الحسب، فاختاروا أبناءهم ونساءهم ؛
He said to them: Choose one of two groups: either the wealth, or the captives. So they said: As you have given us a choice between wealth and honor, we choose honor, so they chose their sons and their women.
وحسب، مجزوم: بمعنى كفى؛ قال سيبويه: وأما حسب، فمعناها الاكتفاء.
And 'ḥasb', in the jussive mood: meaning 'to suffice'; Sibawayh said: As for 'ḥasb', its meaning is sufficiency.
وحسبك درهم أي كفاك، وهو اسم، وتقول: حسبك ذلك أي كفاك ذلك؛
And 'ḥasbuka dirham' means 'a dirham suffices you', and it is a noun, and you say: 'ḥasbuka dhālika' meaning 'that suffices you'.

And Al-Farra' said regarding the saying of God Almighty: 'O Prophet, Allah is sufficient for you and those who follow you among the believers'; the interpretation is 'Allah suffices you, and suffices those who follow you'.
وقال أبو إسحاق في قوله، عز وجل: وكفى بالله حسيبا* ؛ يكون بمعنى محاسبا، ويكون بمعنى كافيا؛
And Abu Ishaq said regarding the saying of God, the Exalted: 'And Allah is sufficient as a reckoner'; it can mean 'one who holds accountable', and it can mean 'one who suffices'.
وقال في قوله تعالى: إن الله كان على كل شيء حسيبا ؛ أي يعطي كل شيء من العلم والحفظ والجزاء مقدار ما يحسبه أي يكفيه.
And He said regarding the saying of God Almighty: 'Indeed, Allah is ever, over all things, a Witness/Sufficient'; meaning He gives everything of knowledge, protection, and recompense the amount that He reckons, i.e., suffices it.
وفي حديث عبد الله بن عمرو، رضي الله عنهما، قال له النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم: يحسبك أن تصوم من كل شهر ثلاثة أيام أي يكفيك؛
And in the narration of Abdullah bin Amr, may God be pleased with them both, the Prophet, peace be upon him, said to him: 'It suffices you to fast three days from every month', meaning 'it is enough for you'.
وإبل محسبة: لها لحم وشحم كثير؛
And 'muḥassabah' camels: they have much flesh and fat.
وقال بعضهم: لأحسبنكم من الأسودين: يعني التمر والماء أي لأوسعن عليكم.
And some of them said: 'I will give you plenty of the two black things': meaning dates and water, i.e., 'I will provide abundantly for you'.
وفي التنزيل: عطاء حسابا ؛ أي كثيرا كافيا؛
And in the Revelation: 'a gift of 'ḥisāban''; meaning abundant and sufficient.
ويقال: أتاني حساب من الناس أي جماعة كثيرة، وهي لغة هذيل.
And it is said: 'ḥisābun min al-nās' came to me, meaning a large group of people, and this is a dialect of Hudhayl.
وحسب الشيء يحسبه، بالضم، حسبا وحسابا وحسابة: عده.
And 'ḥasaba al-shay'a yaḥsibuhu', with damma, 'ḥasaban' and 'ḥisāban' and 'ḥisābatan': to count it.
يا جمل أسقيت بلا حسابه، ... سقيا مليك حسن الربابه،
O camel, may you be watered without counting... watering of a king who is good at nurturing.
وأسرعت حسبة في ذلك العدد
And I hastened a count within that number.
وعلى الله حسباني، إذا النفس أشرفت ... على طمع، أو خاف شيئا ضميرها
And upon Allah is my reckoning, when the soul aspires... to greed, or its conscience fears something.
والله سريع الحساب* ؛ أي حسابه واقع لا محالة، وكل واقع فهو سريع، وسرعة حساب الله، أنه لا يشغله حساب واحد عن محاسبة الآخر، لأنه سبحانه لا يشغله سمع عن سمع، ولا شأن عن شأن.
And Allah is swift in account*; meaning His account is inevitable, and everything inevitable is swift, and the swiftness of Allah's account is that one account does not preoccupy Him from another, because He, Glorified, is not preoccupied by one hearing from another, nor one matter from another.
وكفى بنفسك اليوم عليك حسيبا ؛ أي كفى بك لنفسك محاسبا.
'And sufficient for you is yourself today as an accountant'*; meaning, you are sufficient as an accountant for yourself.
أفضل العمل منح الرغاب، لا يعلم حسبان أجره إلا الله.
The best deed is giving generously; none knows the calculation of its reward except Allah.
والشمس والقمر بحسبان ، معناه بحساب ومنازل لا يعدوانها.
And the sun and the moon are by 'ḥusbān', meaning by calculation and stations they do not exceed.
يرزق من يشاء بغير حساب* ؛ أي بغير تقتير وتضييق، كقولك: فلان ينفق بغير حساب أي يوسع النفقة، ولا يحسبها؛
He gives sustenance to whom He wills without account*; meaning without stinginess and restriction, like your saying: 'So-and-so spends without account', meaning he expands his spending and does not count it.
