My portion of the Quran came to me, and I wished not to leave until I completed it.
كيف تحزبون القرآن؟
How do you divide the Quran (into portions)?
أعطني حزبي من المال أي حظي ونصيبي.
Give me my share of the money, meaning my lot and my portion.
والحزب: النوبة في ورود الماء.
And al-ḥizb: the turn in watering (animals).
والأحزاب: الطوائف التي تجتمع على محاربة الأنبياء، عليهم السلام، وفي الحديث ذكر يوم الأحزاب، وهو غزوة الخندق.
And the aḥzāb: the factions that gather to fight the prophets, peace be upon them. And in the hadith, the day of the aḥzāb is mentioned, which is the Battle of the Trench.
وحزب فلان أحزابا أي جمعهم
And so-and-so made factions, meaning he gathered them.
اللهم اهزم الأحزاب وزلزلهم
O Allah, defeat the factions and shake them.
يريد أن يحزبهم أي يقويهم ويشد منهم، ويجعلهم من حزبه، أو يجعلهم أحزابا
He means to strengthen them and make them firm, and make them part of his faction, or make them into factions.
تحازبوا: مالأ بعضهم بعضا فصاروا أحزابا
They colluded: they supported each other and became factions.

When a matter befell him, he would pray.
اللهم أنت عدتي، إن حزبت
O Allah, You are my provision; if I am afflicted.
وحزبه الأمر يحزبه حزبا: نابه، واشتد عليه، وقيل ضغطه
And the matter afflicted him, afflicting him severely; it pressed upon him.
