وإنما قيل جأبة المدرى لأن القرن أول ما يطلع يكون غليظا ثم يدق، فنبه بذلك على صغر سنها.
It is only called the young horn of the gazelle because the horn, when it first emerges, is thick, then it thins, thus indicating its young age.
ويقال: فلان شخت الآل، جأب الصبر، أي دقيق الشخص غليظ الصبر في الأمور.
And it is said: So-and-so is thin in body, thick in patience, meaning thin in person, thick in patience in matters.
