وقال مجاهد: الفاكهة ما أكله الناس، والأب ما أكلت الأنعام، فالأب من المرعى للدواب كالفاكهة للإنسان.
And Mujahid said: Fruits are what people eat, and Al-Ab is what livestock eat; thus, Al-Ab from pasture for beasts is like fruits for humans.
ولنا الأب به والمكرع
And we have the pasture through it and the watering place.
قال ثعلب: الأب كل ما أخرجت الأرض من النبات.
Thaalab said: Al-Ab is everything that the earth brings forth in terms of plants.
وقال عطاء: كل شيء ينبت على وجه الأرض فهو الأب.
And Atta said: Everything that grows on the face of the earth is Al-Ab.
