والتفيؤ لا يكون إلا بالعشي، والظل بالغداة، وهو ما لم تنله الشمس، والفيء بالعشي ما انصرفت عنه الشمس.
And tafayyuʾ only occurs in the evening, while ẓill is in the morning, which is what the sun has not reached, and al-fayʾ in the evening is what the sun has moved away from.

والمفيؤة: هو المعتوه لزمه هذا الاسم من طول لزومه الظل.
And al-mafīʾūʾah: is the simpleton, this name stuck to him from his prolonged staying in the shade.

If you see the shade on their heads, meaning women, like the humps of camels, then inform them that Allah does not accept their prayers.

وإن عزموا الطلاق، فإن الله سميع عليم.
And if they resolve on divorce, then Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

What Allah granted to His Messenger from the people of the towns.
الفيء ما رد الله تعالى على أهل دينه من أموال من خالف دينه، بلا قتال.
Al-fayʾ is what Allah Almighty returned to the followers of His religion from the wealth of those who opposed His religion, without fighting.
فما أوجفتم عليه من خيل ولا ركاب.
And for which you did not exert horses or cavalry.
حتى تفيء إلى أمر الله.
Until they return to the command of Allah.
