And Abu Ubayd said: Al-Ahmar said: The locust laid its eggs: it cast its eggs, and asra'at: the time for that came for it, and the locust raza'at: and al-raz'u is for it to insert its tail into the ground and cast its eggs, and sar'uha: its eggs.
قال الليث: وكذلك سَرْءُ السَّمَكَةِ وما أَشْبَهَهُ مِنَ البَيْضِ، فَهِيَ سَرْءُوءٌ، والوَاحِدَةُ سَرْأَةٌ.
Al-Layth said: And likewise is the egg of a fish and similar eggs, so it is saru'un, and the singular is sir'atun.
القَنَانِيُّ: إِذَا أَلْقَى الجَرَادُ بَيْضَهُ قِيلَ: قَدْ سَرَأَ بَيْضَهُ يَسْرَأُ بِهِ.
Al-Qannaniyyu: When the locust casts its eggs, it is said: It has laid its eggs, it lays with them.
الأَصْمَعِيُّ: الجَرَادُ يَكُونُ سَرْءًا، وهُوَ البَيْضُ، فَإِذَا خَرَجَتْ سُودًا، فَهِيَ دِبَى.
Al-Asma'iyyu: The locust is eggs, and it is the eggs, and when they emerge dark, they are diba'.
وسَرَأَتِ المَرْأَةُ سَرْءًا: كَثُرَ وَلَدُهَا.

وسَرَأَتِ الضَّبَّةُ: بَاضَتْ.

والسَّرَاءُ: ضَرْبٌ مِنْ شَجَرِ القِسِيِّ، الوَاحِدَةُ سَرَاءَةٌ.
