Ibn Shumayl said: 'Raheyta fi amrik' means you were weak and slow.
ورهيأ رأيه رهيأة: أفسده فلم يحكمه.
And he spoiled his opinion, causing disorder, meaning he corrupted it and did not perfect it.
ورهيأ في أمره: لم يعزم عليه.
And he was indecisive in his affair: he did not resolve upon it.
وترهيأ فيه إذا هم به ثم أمسك عنه، وهو يريد أن يفعله.
And he hesitated in it if he intended to do it then refrained from it, while wanting to do it.
وترهيأ فيه: اضطرب.
And he was agitated in it: he was disturbed.
أبو عبيد: رهيأ في أمره رهيأة إذا اختلط فلم يثبت على رأي.
Abu Ubayd said: 'Raheyā fi amrihi rahyā'ah' means he was confused in his affair and did not stick to one opinion.
وعيناه ترهيآن: لا يقر طرفاهما.
And his eyes are restless: their gaze does not settle.
ويقال للرجل، إذا لم يقم على الأمر ويمضي وجعل يشك ويتردد: قد رهيأ.
And it is said of a man, if he does not proceed with an affair and move forward, and begins to doubt and hesitate: he has become indecisive.
ورهيأ الحمل: جعل أحد العدلين أثقل من الآخر، وهو الرهيأة.
And he unbalanced the load: he made one side heavier than the other, and that is al-rahyā'ah.
تقول: رهيأت حملك رهيأة، وكذلك رهيأت أمرك إذا لم تقومه.
You say: 'Raheyta hamlak rahyā'ah', and likewise 'Raheyta amrak' if you did not set it right.
وقيل: الرهيأة أن يحمل الرجل حملا فلا يشده، فهو يميل.
And it was said: Al-rahyā'ah is when a man carries a load without securing it, so it tilts.
وترهيأ الشيء: تحرك.
And a thing moved unsteadily: it moved.
أبو زيد: رهيأ الرجل، فهو مرهيئ، وذلك أن يحمل حملا فلا يشده بالحبال، فهو يميل كلما عدله.
Abu Zayd said: 'Raheyā al-rajul, fa huwa murhī', that is when he carries a load without securing it with ropes, so it tilts whenever he tries to straighten it.
وترهيأ السحاب إذا تحرك.
And the clouds moved unsteadily if they moved.
ورهيأت السحابة وترهيأت: اضطربت.
And the cloud moved unsteadily and was agitated: it was disturbed.
وقيل: رهيأة السحابة تمخضها وتهيؤها للمطر.
And it was said: Rahyā'at al-sahābah is its churning and its readiness for rain.
أن رجلا كان في أرض له إذ مرت به عنانة ترهيأ، فسمع فيها قائلا يقول: ائتي أرض فلان فاسقيها.
That a man was in his land when a cloud passed by him, moving unsteadily, and he heard a voice within it saying: 'Go to so-and-so's land and water it.'
الأصمعي: ترهيأ يعني أنها قد تهيأت للمطر، فهي تريد ذلك ولما تفعل.
Al-Asma'i said: 'Tarhayā' means it has prepared itself for rain, it desires it but has not yet done it.
والرهيأة: أن تغرورق العينان من الكبر أو من الجهد، وأنشد:
And al-rahyā'ah: is when the eyes well up from old age or from exertion, and he recited:
إن كان حظكما، من مال شيخكما، ... ناب ترهيأ عيناها من الكبر
If your share, from your old man's wealth, ... is a tooth, its eyes welling up from old age.
والمرأة ترهيأ في مشيتها أي تكفأ كما ترهيأ النخلة العيدانة.
And a woman sways in her walk, meaning she leans as a palm tree leans on its branches.
