1 نَصَعَ ذ He, or it, purified. (L.)

أَبْيَضُ نَاصِعٌ ذ Intensely white.

4 أَنَصَفَهُ ذ He did justice to him: (MA:) he acted equitably with him: (Msb:) he gave him, or obtained for him, his right, or due, from (مِنْ) another: see أَعْذَرَ. ― -b2- اـِنْصاَفٌ The giving what is right, or due: (M:) or the granting, or rendering, justice. (KL, PS.) ― -b3- أَنْصَفَهُ مِنْ ظَالِمِهِ [ He exacted justice for him from his wronger ]. (T voce ظَلَّمَ.)

8 اِنْتَصَفَ مِنْهُ ذ He exacted, or obtained, his right, or due, from him (M, K) completely, so that each of them became on a par with the other; (K;) [i. e. with equity ]. ― -b2- اِنْتَصَفَ It became halved: (Msb:) [often said of the daytime (النَّهَارُ)].

طُبِخَ عَلَى النِّصْفِ ذ , and أُصْلِحَ على النصف, It (wine) was boiled until half of it had gone, or evaporated. (TA, voce طَابَة.)

مَكَانٌ نَصَفٌ بَيْنَ مَكَانَيْنِ ذ [ A place half-way, midway, or equidistant, between two places ]. (Mughnee in art. سَوَاآءٌ.) ― -b2- نَصَفٌ A middle-aged woman or man: (S, K:) or forty-five years old: or fifty years old. (K.) Dim. نُصيف.

نَصِيفٌ ذ A woman's muffler: see خِمَارٌ.

نُصَيْفٌ ذ , dim. of نَصَفٌ: see خَلَيْقٌ voce خَلَقٌ.

مُنَصَّفٌ ذ Expressed juice, (Mgh, Msb,) or wine, or beverage, (K,) cooked until half of it has gone [by evaporation ]. (Mgh, Msb, K.)

مَنَاصَفٌ ذ Not wholly ripe: [ half-ripe: ] applied to the date. (TA, voce بُسْرٌ.)

أَنْصاَفُ اللَّبِنِ ذ [ Half-bricks, or] cut bricks, whereof the one is placed, in building, beside the whole brick, for the purpose of ornamentation. (Msb in art. خرج.)

نَصْلٌ ذ The iron head or blade (Mgh, K) of an arrow, (S, Mgh, K,) and of a spear, (S, K,) and of a sword, (S, Mgh, Msb, K,) and of a knife, (S, Msb,) and the like. (Msb.) ― -b2- نَصْلٌ The spun thread of the spindle: (K:) see سُرْسُورٌ.

لِحْيَةٌ نَاصِلٌ ذ A very white beard. (See العَنْقَاءُ المُغْرِبُ, art. غرب.) ― -b2- مَا بَلِلْتُ مِنْ فُلاَنٍ بِأَفْوَقَ نَاصِلٍ: see بَلَّ and أَفْوَقَ in two places.

تَصْمَةٌ ذ or نَصَمَةٌ An idol: see صَنَمٌ.

5 تَنَصَّى بَنِى فُلاَنٍ ذ : see تَذَرَّى.

نَصِىٌّ ذ A certain plant: (S, TA:) Golius says, a species of thistle; but this seems to be inconsistent with the description of it: see رَيِّجَةٌ. ― -b2- خَصِىٌّ نَصِيٌّ Gelded, castrated. The second word is an imitative sequent.

نَاصِيَةٌ ذ properly, in the language of the [classical] Arabs, The place where the hair grows in the fore part of the head: and hence, the hair of that part; the hair over the forehead; (Az, TA;) [and this is the general meaning;) i. q. قُصَّةٌ and طُرَّةٌ. (Msb, art. قص.) The forelock of a horse. ― -b2- نَاصِيَةُ بَنِى فُلاَنٍ: see تَذَرَّى and ذِرْوَةٌ.

نُضَارٌ ذ A tree of which yellow cups (أَقْدَاح) are made. (T, in TA, voce غَرَبٌ.) See وَرْسِىٌّ.

1 نَضَلَهُ ذ He overcame him, or surpassed him, in shooting. (S, Msb, K.)

3 نَاضَلَهُ ذ He vied, competed, or contended for superiority, with him in shooting. (S, Msb, K.) ― -b2- نَاضَلَهُ, inf. n. تِنْصَالٌ: see بَيَّنَهَ. ― -b3- نَاضَل عَنْهُ (tropical:) He defended him, pleaded in defence of him, or repelled from him; (K, TA;) spoke in his defence, excusing him; (S, TA;) defended him, &c., as above; (S;) contended, or pleaded, in his defence; (TA;) defended him; and contended in his defence. (Msb.)

1 نَضَا الخَيْلَ ذ He outstripped the other horses: see تَجَرَّدَ.

نِضْوٌ ذ A lean, or emaciated, camel: fem. with ة. (S, Msb, K.) نِصْوُ سَفَرٍ [ Lean, or emaciated by journeying ]; applied to a beast. (TA, in رجع.)

5 تَنَطَّعَ ذ , (KL,) or تنطّع فِى الكَلاَمِ, (S, K,) He went deeply, or far, in speech; (KL;) syn. تَعَمَّقَ: (S, K:) was exorbitant, or extravagant, therein: (K:) or تنطّع signifies he spoke with the extremity of his fauces; [or with a guttural voice; ] from النِّطْعُ signifying the upper غار in the mouth. (IAth.)

نِطَعٌ ذ and ↓ نِطْعٌ and نَطَعٌ and نَطْعٌ A certain thing (Munjid of Kr, Mgh, Msb, K) that is spread [ upon the ground to serve as a table for food, and for play at chess or the like, and to receive the head of a person when it is cut off ], (Munjid, K,) made of leather; (Munjid, Mgh, Msb, K;) a piece of leather that is spread upon the ground for any of the purposes above mentioned. ― -b2- The anterior part of the palate; see غار.

نَطَّاعٌ ذ A man who makes نُطُوع: and who binds books. (T, in TA, art. حط.)

نَطَفٌ ذ Earrings: see a verse cited in art. سجد.

نُطْفَةٌ ذ Sperma of a man (S, Msb, K) and of a woman. (Msb.)

نَاطِفٌ ذ A kind of sweetmeat; (Msb;) i. q. قُبَّيْطَى. (S, Msb.)

1 نَطَقَ ذ trans. by means of ب: see Ham, p. 75. ― -b2- نَطَقَ بِهِ means he pronounced it, or articulated it. ― -b3- نَطَقَ, said of a bird or any animal: see Bd, xxvii. 16.

3 نَاطَقَهٌ ذ , inf. n. مُنَاطَقَةٌ, He talked, or discoursed, with him; syn. كَالَمَهُ, (TA,) followed by بِ before the subject of talk, &c. (TA in art. فرغ.)

6 تَنَاطَقَا ذ They two talked, or discoursed, each with the other; like تَقاَوَلَا. (TA.)

10 اِسْتَنْطَقَهُ ذ He desired him to speak; (TA;) [ interrogated him: ] he spoke to him until, or so that, he spoke. (Msb.)

نِطَاقٌ ذ The bar (مترس) of a door. (TA, art. لز.) ― -b2- نِطاَقُ الجَوْزَاآءِ The Belt of Orion: see الجَوْزَاآءُ.

نِطَاقَةٌ ذ A ticket of price, or weight: see بِطَاقَةٌ.

نَاطِقٌ ذ ― -b2- اطيار ناطقة Singing birds. ― -b3- نَاطِقٌ an epithet applied to A deenár. ― -b4- جَذْرٌ نَاطِقٌ A rational root, in arithmetic; opposed to جَذْرٌ أَصَمُّ. (Mgh, art. جذر.) ― -b5- حَيَوَانٌ نَاطِقٌ A rational animal.

نَاطِقِيَّةٌ ذ Rationality.

مَنْطِقٌ ذ Speech: (S:) Diction; or expression of ideas, or meanings, by voice and words. (K, TA.)

مِنْطَقَةٌ ذ I. q. حِيَاصَةٌ; (Msb;) A kind of girdle, zone, or waist-belt, which is fastened round the waist with a buckle or clasp; worn by men and by women; and when worn by wealthy women generally adorned with jewels, &c., and having also two plates of silver or gold, also generally jewelled, which clasp together. See اـِبْزِيمٌ.

مِنْطِيقٌ ذ Eloquent: (S, K:) or able in speech; an able speaker. (TA in art. فوه.)

نَيْطَلٌ ذ : see سَيْطَلٌ.

نَطْمَةٌ ذ : see نَطْبَةٌ.

8 اِنْتَطَتِ المَفَازَهُ ذ : see انتاطت, in art. نوط.

نِطَاآءٌ ذ Distance, or far extent; syn. بُعْدٌ. (TA.) See غَائِلٌ, in art. غول.

نَاطِيَةٌ ذ A female weaver: pl. نَوَاطٍ. (TA in art. ذرع.)

10 اِسْنَنْظَفَ الذَّكَرَ مِنَ البَوْلِ ذ : see استنقى.
