1 مَحَقَ ذ , aor. مَحَقَ , inf. n. مَحْقٌ, He rendered a thing deficient, and deprived it of its blessing, or increase: or [ he annihilated, annulled, or obliterated, it;] he did away with it wholly, so that no trace thereof remained. (Msb.) ― -b2- ↓ أَعْمَدُ مِنْ كَيْلٍ مُحِّقَ, or مُحِقَ: see عَمَدَ.

لَيَالِى المُحَاقِ ذ : see دَأْدَاآءٌ and الدَّعْجَاآءُ.

4 أَمْحَلَتِ النُّجُومُ ذ The stars set aurorally and brought no rain. (S, K * in art. خوى.)

5 تَمَحَّلْتُ مَالًا بِغَيْرِ ثَمَنٍ ذ I laboured to acquire property without price: (Msb:) or, accord. to Az, تَمَحَّلَ مَالًا means he laboured, and exercised art or management, in seeking [ to acquire ] property. (TA.) See also تَعَلَّثَ.

مَحْلٌ ذ Drought, or suspension of rain, (S, K, Msb in art. جدب,) and dryness of the earth (S, Msb ubi suprà) depriving it of herbage; (S, TA;) and i. q. جَدْبٌ. (K.)

مَحَالَةٌ محال محاله محالة محل : see art. حول; and see also فَوْهَاآءُ voce أَفْوَهُ, and فَوْقَاآءُ voce أَفْوَقُ, and قَبٌّ.

لَبَنٌ مُمَحَّلٌ ذ Sour milk upon which much fresh is milked: see قَارِصٌ.

مُتَمَاحِلٌ ذ : see رَدَاحٌ.

مِحْنَةٌ ذ A trial, (S, Msb, K,) or trying affliction: (S:) pl. مِحَنٌ. (Msb.)

مَحُونَةٌ محا محونه محونة (not مُحُونَةٌ): see art. حين.

1 مَحَاهُ ذ He effaced, erased, rased, obliterated, or cancelled, it; removed, or did away with, its impression or trace. (K.) ― -b2- مَحَتِ الرِّيحُ عَنْهُ الأَسْقَامَ وَالدُّنُوبَ The wind made to pass away, or dispelled, the clouds. (TA.) ― -b3- مَحَا الصُّبْحُ اللَّيْلَ Daybreak dispelled the night. (TA.) ― -b4- مَحَاا@للّٰهُ عَنْهُ الأَسْقَامَ وَالدُّنُوبَ [ God removed from him diseases and sins; as though He cancelled them]. (Msb in art. عفو.) ― -b5- الاـِحْسَانُ يَمْحُو الاـِسَاآءَةَ Beneficence effaces, obliterates, or cancels, evil conduct. (TA)

مَيْدَانٌ ذ : see art. ميد.

هُوَ ا@بْنُ مَدِينَتِهَا ذ , said of a skilful guide: see بَجْدَةٌ.

6 تَمَادَى فِى غَيِّهِ ذ He persevered in his error. (Msb.)

مَدًى ذ The utmost extent, term, limit, or reach, of a thing; syn. غَايَةٌ: (S, Msb, K:) an extent, a distance; a space, an interval; syn. مَسَافَةٌ. [meaning a space that is, or that is to be, traversed ] and hence used in the sense before explained because extending to a غاية: (Z, in the Fáïk, quoted in the TA:) a goal. (The Lexicons passim.)

مُدْيَةٌ ذ A butcher's knife. (Mgh.) See سِكِّينٌ.

مَذُوقٌ ذ Milk mixed with much water. (TA in art. فضخ.)

مَمْذُوقُ النِّقْىِ ذ [ Having diluted marrow ]; applied to a soft, or flabby, camel. (O, K in art. رك.) ― -b2- عَيْشٌ مَمْذُوقٌ (assumed tropical:) A turbid life. (TA in art. سمر.)

Q. 4 اِمْذَقَرَّتِ الاـِبِلُ ذ The camels became dispersed. (TA in art. صعر.)

4 أَمْذَى ذ Humorem tenuem e pene emisit vir propter lusum amatorium rel osculum. (Msb, &c.)

مَذْىٌ ذ Humor tenuis qui propter lusum amatorium vel osculum e pene virili effluit: a discharge of a thin humour from the ذَكَر, occasioned by amorous toying or by kissing: [app the prostatic fluid, a discharge from the prostate gland. ] (S, Msb, &c.)

مَذَّاءٌ ذ app., Is qui multum passus est seminis effluxum ex contactu feminæ aut osculo. See مَزْكُوتٌ. See also أَمْذَى.

مَاذِىٌّ ذ Honey: (K:) or white honey: (S, M:) or fine, or thin, white honey. (AA, TA.)

مَرٌّ ذ A spade; [so in the present day;] syn. مِسْحَاةٌ; (M, K;) with which one works in land of seed-produce: (M and K, voce بَالٌ:) or the handle thereof: (M, K;) and in like manner, of the مِحْرَاث [app. here meaning fire-shovel ]: (M:) [see سِخِّينٌ] the thing with which one works in earth, or mud. (Sgh, TA.)

مُرَيْرَاآءُ ذ An anæsthetic herb: see سَكَرَةٌ.

مَرْزٌ ذ [an inf. n.] i. q. عَيْبٌ; as also لَمْزٌ. (Fr in TA, art. لمز.)

مَرَاسَةٌ ذ [ A wooden rake or harrow: ] i. q. مَلاَسَةٌ. (TA, art. صلع.)

مِرِطْرَاطٌ ذ [ A sweet food: ] i. q. فَالُوذٌ; as also سِرِطْرَاطٌ. (TA in art. زع.)

1 مَرُعَ ذ and ↓ أَمْرَعَ It (a valley) abounded with herbage. (S, Msb, K.)

4 أَمْرَعَ see 1.

مُرَعٌ ذ , the bird so called: see an ex. voce بُلَعٌ.

2 مَرَّغَ ذ He rolled, or turned over, a beast of carriage, in the dust. (K.) ― -b2- مَرَّغَ He smeared, seasoned, imbued, or soaked, a mess of ثَرِيدِ, with grease, or gravy, or dripping; i. q. رَوَّغَ, and دَسَّمَ, and سَغْبَلَ. (TA in art. روغ.)

3 مَارَغَهُ ذ [ He rolled with him upon the ground, or in the dust ]; said of a man after his wrestling with another. (TA in art. رسغ.) See 3, in that art.

8 اِمْتَرَقَ ذ He drew a sword from its scabbard. (TA, voce اِهْتَلَبَ; and voce اِعْتَقَّ.)

مَرْقُ الاـِهَابِ ذ The burying of the skin, or hide, in the earth, so that its hair may be removed, and it may become ready for tanning. (K, * TA in art. افق.) See also فَلَقَ.

مَرَقٌ ذ in grapes: see سُكَّرٌ. ― -b2- مَرَقٌ Broth; gravy-soup; and any decoction.

سَهْمٌ مَارِقٌ ذ An arrow of which the whole has passed through the animal at which it is shot. (A, art. مرد.) See صَارِدٌ, and مُغْتَلِمُ.

مُرِّيقٌ ذ : see دُرِّىْءٌ. ― -b2- مُرَّيْق in the K is a mistake for مُرِّيق. (TA.) See also عُِلِّيَّهٌ, in art. علو, in which مُرِّيقَةٌ is mentioned as the n. un.

مَمْرَقٌ ذ A kind of small lantern in the roof of a chamber, for the admission of air, generally octagonal, the sides of wooden lattice-work, and the top a cupola; a sky-light; any kind of window or aperture in a roof.

1 مَرَنَ ذ It was, or became smooth, (S, M, K,) with a degree of hardness. (M, K.) Said of a camel's foot: see أَسْحَقَ. ― -b2- مَرَنَ عَلَى شَىْءٍ He became accustomed, habituated, or inured, to a thing. (K.)

2 مَرَّنَهُ ذ He made it soft, or smooth, لَيِّن. (Msb.)

مَارِنٌ ذ The [ soft, or cartilagenous ] part of the nose, beneath, or exclusive of, the bone. (Zj, in his “ Khalk el-Insán: ” and the like is said in the S and Msb, and partially in the K.)

1 الرِّيحُ تَمْرِى السَّحَابَ ذ and ↓ تَمْتَرِيهِ The wind draws forth the clouds. (M, TA.) See an ex. in a verse cited voce عَزْلَاآءُ.

3 مَارَاهُ ذ , inf. n. مُمَارَاةٌ and مِرَاآءٌ, i. q. جَادَلَهُ; (S, K; *) He disputed with him, or did so obstinately, &c.: (TA:) it is only in opposing [what has been said; not in commencing a disputation]. (Msb.)

6 التَّمَارِى ذ The disputing, or contending, together. (TA.) You say, هُمَا يَتَمَارَيَانِ بِالشِّعْرِ [ They two dispute, or contend, together, with verses or poetry ]. (TA in art. بده.)

8 اِمْترَى ذ He doubted, به of it. (Kur, xliii. 61.) ― -b2- See 1.

10 اِسْتَمْرَتِ الاـِبِلُ المحَمْضَ ذ for اِسْتَمْرَأَتْهُ: see 1 in art. عدن.

مَرْوٌ ذ A certain plant: see خَافُورٌ, and حَبَقٌ, and فَاخُورٌ.
