1 لَذَّ ذ , (T, M, L, Msb, K,) second per. لَذِذْتَ, (Msb,) aor. يَلَذُّ, (T, Msb,) inf. n. لَذَاذَةٌ (A, L, Msb) and لَذَاذٌ (Msb) and لَذَّةٌ; (A;) and ↓ التذّ, inf. n. اـِلْتِذاذٌ; (A;) It (a thing) was, or became لَذِيذ [i. e. pleasant, delightful, delicious, luscious, sweet, or savoury; see لَذَّةٌ, below; and see طَابَ]; (T, M, L, Msb, K;) an object of desire, or a thing desired. (L.) ― -b2- لَذَّهُ, (M, L, K,) first pers. لَذِذْتُ, (T, S, Msb,) aor. يَلَذُّ, (T, M, L, Msb,) inf. n. لَذٌّ (M, L) and لَذَّةٌ (Msb) and لَذَاذٌ and لَذَاذَةٌ, (S, M, L, K,) He found it لَذِيذ [i. e. pleasant, delightful, delicious, luscious, sweet, or savoury; he delighted in it; he took pleasure, or delight, in it ]; (S, L, Msb, K;) as also لَذَّ بِهِ, and ↓ التذّهُ, and بِهِ ↓ التذّ, and ↓ استلذّهُ: (M, K:) or he counted, accounted, reckoned, or esteemed, it pleasant, &c.; (L;) as also لَذَّ به, and ↓ التذّهُ, and به ↓ التدّ, (A, L,) and ↓ استلذّهُ: (S, L, Msb:) لَذِذْتُ الشَّىْءَ and لَذِذْتُ به and اـِسْتَلْذَذْتُهُ are syn.; (En-Nadr, T, L;) and so are به ↓ اـِلْتَذَذْتُ and به ↓ تَلَذَّذْتُ. (S, L, Msb.) ― -b3- ذَا مِمَّا يَلُذُّنِى, and ↓ يُلَذِّذُنِى, [and يُلِذُّنِى, (see an ex. of its act. part. n. voce مُرِذٌّ, in art. رذ,) This is of the things that please, or delight, me ]. (A.)

3 لاذّ الرَّجُلُ ا@مْرَأَتَهُ ذ , inf. n. مُلَاذَّةٌ and لِذَاذٌ, [ The man gave pleasure, or delight, or enjoyment, to his wife, receiving the same from her, ] on the occasion of contact in the act of concubitus. (A.) See also 6.

5 تَلَذَّذْتُ ذ [ I became pleased, or delighted; or I pleased, or delighted, myself ]. (A.) ― -b2- See also 1.

لَذٌّ ذ Sleep. (IAar, T, S, L, K.) ― -b2- See also لَذَّةٌ and لَذِيدٌ.

لَذَّةٌ ذ Pleasure; delight; contr. of أَلَمٌ; (M, L, K;) so explained because it happens not save to one who is of sound constitution, free from pains; syn. with شَهْوَةٌ [in one of the senses of this latter word], or nearly so: (TA:) pleasantness; delightfulness; deliciousness; lusciousness, sweetness: (the Lexicons passim: see the intrans. v. لَذَّ, of which it is an inf. n.) pl. لَذَّاتٌ. (S, L, Msb, K.) ― -b2- ↓ لَذْوَى, of the measure فَعْلَى, also signifies the same as لَذَّةٌ, and is formed by the change of one of the two dháls into و; [in the L ى;] a change similar to that in تَقَضَّى. (L.) It occurs in a trad. of 'Áïsheh, relating to the present world, قَدْ مَضَى لَذْوَاهَا وَبَقِىَ بَلْوَاهَا [ Its pleasure, or delight, or pleasantness, or delightfulness, hath passed away, and its probation remaineth ]. (L.) ― -b3- Also لَذَّةٌ and ↓ لَذَاذَةٌ and ↓ لَذِيذٌ and ↓ لَذْوَى The eating and drinking in a state of ease, comfort, or pleasure, and competence. (IAar, T, L.) ― -b4- See لَذِيذٌ.

لَذِيذٌ ذ and ↓ لَذٌّ are used in the same manner, as epithets, (Lth, T, L,) from the intrans. v. لَذَّ, (L,) signifying Pleasant, delightful, delicious, luscious, sweet, or savoury; (the Lexicons passim;) desirable, or desired: (L:) pl. of both, لِذَاذٌ; and of the latter, [or of both,] لُذٌّ. (M, K.) ― -b2- شَرَابٌ لَذِيذٌ, and ↓ لَذٌّ, (S, M, L,) and كَأْسٌ لَذَّةٌ, (M, L,) and شَىْءٌ لَذِيذٌ, and ↓ لَذٌّ, (A,) A pleasant, delightful, delicious, luscious, sweet, or savoury, beverage, or wine, and cup of beverage, or wine, and thing ]. ― -b3- [You say] ↓ لَهُ عَيْشٌ لَذٌّ [ He has a pleasant, or delightful, life ]: and مِنْ ↓ هُوَ فِى لَذٍّ عَيْشٍ [ He is in a pleasant, or delightful, state of life ]. ذَا أَطْيَبُ وَأَلَذُّ ذ [ This is more. or most. pleasant and delightful, &c.] (A.)

مَلَذٌّ ذ A place of لَذَّة [i. e. pleasure, or delight ]: pl. مَلَاذُّ. It is said in a trad. اـِذَا رَكِبَ أَحَدُكُمُ الدَّابَّةَ فَلْيَحْمِلْهَا عَلَى مَلَاذِّهَا [ When any one of you rides the beast of carriage, let him urge it to run upon the places that are pleasant to it ]; i. e. let him make it run upon plain, or even, not rugged, ground, (L.)

اَللَّذْ ذ and اَللَّذِ [thus written with two láms] dial. forms of الَّذِى: dual اللَّذَا, with the ن elided: pl. الَّذِينَ; and sometimes, in the nom. case, الَّذُونَ. (S.) Their proper art. is لذى. (IB, K.) [See an ex. in a verse cited voce تَزَبَّى.]

1 لَذَبَ ذ , aor. لَذُبَ , inf. n. لُذُوبٌ; and ↓ لَاذَبَ; He remained, stayed, abode, or dwelt, in a place: (K:) or correctly written with د, unpointed: but IDrd doubts whether correctly with ذ or with د. (TA.) See also لَزَبَ.

1 لَزَّ الشَّىْءُ بِالشَّىْءِ ذ , (TK,) [aor., app. لَزِ3َ ,] or لَزَّهُ, aor. لَزُ3َ , (so in a copy of the Msb,) inf. n. لَزٌّ, (Msb, K,) The thing clave to the thing: (Msb, K, * TK:) it stuck, or adhered, to it. (TA.) See also 8. ― -b2- [Hence,] لَزَزْتَ بِى يَا فُلَانُ (tropical:) [ Thou hast importuned me, or wearied me by thine importunity, O such a one ]. (A.) -A2- لَزَّهُ, (S, K,) aor. لَزُ3َ , (S,) inf. n. لَزٌّ (S, K) and لَزَزٌ, (K, and so in a copy of the S,) or لَزَازٌ, (L, and so in a copy of the S,) He fastened it, or made it fast; or he bound it, or tied it; syn. شَدَّهُ: and he stuck it, or made it to adhere; (S, K;) as also ↓ الزّهُ, (K,) inf. n. اـِلْزَازٌ. (TA.) [But it is afterwards said in the TA, that, accord. to the TS, أَلْزَزْتُ بِهِ in the sense of أَلْصَقْتُ بِهِ was disallowed by As.]) You say also, لَزَّهُ بِهِ, (TK,) inf. n. لَزٌّ, (K,) He made it to cleave to it; (K, * TK;) like the لِزَاز of a house or chamber. (Lth, TA.) And لُزَّا They (two camels) were tied together: and they (the two shanks of a camel) were straitly connected in the shackles. (TA.) ― -b2- He fastened it, namely a door, with a لِزَاز, or bar; he barred it. (K, * TA.) ― -b3- He thrust or pierced him [with a spear or the like]. (K, * TK.) ― -b4- لَزَّهُ اـِلَى كَذَا (tropical:) He necessitated him, or constrained him, to have recourse to, or to do, such a thing. (A, TA.)

2 لَزَّزَهُ ذ He (God) caused him to be compact and strong in make. (S, K.)

3 لَا زَزْتُهُ ذ , (inf. n. لِزَازٌ, TA,) I associated with him; became his companion. (S, * K, * TA.)

رَجُلٌ كَزٌّ لَزٌّ ذ A niggardly, tenacious, man: (AZ, TA:) or the latter epithet is an imitative sequent. (S, K.) ― -b2- لَزُّ شَرٍّ: see لِزَازُ شَرٍّ.

لِزٌّ شَرٍّ ذ : see لِزَازُ شَرٍّ.

لَزَزٌ ذ : see لِزَازٌ. -A2- Straitness, difficulty, distress; or the like; syn. شِدَّةٌ. (TA.) ― -b2- A state of crowding together of people in a narrow compass. (Msb.) ― -b3- عَيْشٌ لَزَزٌ A strait, or difficult, life (Msb.)

لِزَازٌ ذ A piece of wood with which a door is fastened; the bar of a door; (A, * K, * TA;) as also ↓ لَزَزٌ. (K.) [Said in the S, where it is not explained, to be from لِزَازُ خَصْمٍ, q. v. infra.; but accord. to the A, it is proper, not tropical.] -A2- هُوَ لِزَازُ مَالٍ (tropical:) He is one who [ by close and constant attention ] takes good care of camels, or other property. (A, TA.) [Hence,] جَعَلْتُكَ لِزَازًا لِفُلَانٍ (tropical:) I have made or appointed thee [ to be a manager of such a one; ] not to suffer such a one to disobey or oppose. (A, * TA.) ― -b2- هُوَ لِزَازُ خَصْمٍ (tropical:) [ He is one who cleaves to an adversary in contention or litigation ]. (S, A.) ― -b3- اـِنَّهُ لِزَازُ خُصُومَةٍ (tropical:) Verily he is pertinacious in contention or litigation; commissioned and able to manage it. (TA.) ― -b4- فُلَانٌ لِزَازُ شَرٍّ, (TA,) and شَرٍّ ↓ لَزِيزُ, and شَرٍّ ↓ لِزُّ, (K,) and لَزُّ شَرٍّ, (TA,) (tropical:) Such a one is one who pertinaciously adheres to evil or mischief. (K, TA.)

لَزُوزٌ ذ an imitative sequent to عَجُوزٌ. (K.)

لَزِيزُ شَرٍّ ذ : see لِزَازٌ.

مِلَزٌّ ذ , applied to a man, and in like manner, without ة, to a woman, (tropical:) Vehement, or pertinacious, in adhering. (TA.) ― -b2- Vehement in contention or litigation; (S, K;) pertinacious in adhering to that which he desires, or seeks, to obtain. (S.)

مُلَزَّزٌ ذ , (S, K,) or مُلَزَّزُ الخَلْقِ, (A,) A man (A, TA) compact and strong in make; (S, * K, * TA;) having a well-knit frame. (A.)

1 لَزَأ ذ and ↓ الزأ, (K,) or the former only, (TA,) He filled (K) a water-skin or the like. (TA.) -A2- لَزَأَهُ, aor. لَزَاَ ; and ↓ لزّأه, (K,) and ↓ الزأه; (TA;) He gave him [a thing]. (K, TA.) In the K, this portion is confused, as well as defective. (TA.) -A3- لَزَأَتْ She (a woman) brought forth. (K.) [You say] قَبَحَ اللّٰهُ أُمًّا لَزَأَتْهُ, (TA,) or لَزَأَتْ بِهِ (S,) [ May God remove far from good, or prosperity, the mother that brought him forth! ] -A4- لَزَأَ; (K;) and ↓ لزّأ, (As, S, K,) inf. n. تَلْزِئَةٌ; (As, S;) He tended camels well. (As, S, K.)

4 الزأ ذ He satiated sheep &c. (K) with pasture. (TA.) -A2- See 1.

5 تلزّأ رِيًّا ذ It, or he, was, or became, filled to saturation, or satiety. (K, * TA.)

1 لَزَبَ ذ , aor. لَزُبَ , inf. n. لُزُوبٌ, It was, or remained, fixed, settled, firm, or constant. (K.) ― -b2- لَزَبَ, aor. and inf. n. as above, It (mud &c., S) adhered, clave, or stuck. (S, K.) ― -b3- لَزُبَ, aor. لَزُبَ , inf. n. لَزْبٌ and لُزُوبٌ, [ It became commixed, or commingled: it intermixed; or it became contracted; ] one part of it entered into another. (K.) ― -b4- لَزَبَ and لَزُبَ It (mud) cohered, and became hard. (K.) ― -b5- لَزَبَ, aor. and inf. n. as at first, It was a time of drought, of no rain. (K.) -A2- لَزَبَتْهُ العَقْرَبُ i. q. لَسَبَتْهُ; The scorpion stung him. (Kr, K.)

6 تلازب التَّمْرُ ذ The dates stuck together. (L, art. نضح.)

لَزْبٌ ذ Strait; narrow; difficult. E. g. عَيْشٌ لَزْبٌ A strait, or difficult life. (TA.)

لِزْبٌ ذ A narrow road, or way. (K.)

لَزَبٌ ذ immediately following عَزَبٌ, (in the CK, غَرَبٌ,) [meaning a man “ who has no wife, ”] is an imitative sequent [used by way of pleonasm and corroboration]. (K.) So likewise لَزَبَةٌ after عَزَبَةٌ. (Ibn-Buzruj.)

لَزِبٌ ذ Little in quantity or number: pl. لِزَابٌ. (K.) E. g. مَاءٌ لَزِبٌ Little water. (TA.)

لَزْبَةٌ ذ Adversity; difficulty; distress; (S, K;) drought: (S:) pl. لِزَبٌ (IJ, K: in the CK لَزْبٌ) and لَزْبَاتٌ: (S, K:) the latter with the ز quiescent, because it is [originally] an epithet. (S.) E. g. أَصَابَتْهُمْ لَزْبَةٌ Distress and drought befell them. (S.) ― -b2- سَنَةٌ لَزْبَةٌ A severe year; a year of drought. (TA.)

لَازِبٌ ذ Adhering, or adhesive, or cohesive, clay or mud. (S.) ― -b2- Being, or remaining, fixed, settled, firm, or constant. (S.) ― -b3- صَارَ الشَّىْءُ ضَرْبَةَ لَازِبٍ The thing became fixed, settled, firm, or constant, (S, K,) and severe: (TA:) [or, a constant infliction: ] or, indispensable, or necessary: i. e., the blow of a sword that sticks, or remains fixed, [ in the wound ]. (Aboo-Bekr, cited in the TA.) لازب is here the same as لازم: (K:) the latter is the original word; the م being changed into ب; and is also used in this phrase: (TA:) but لازب, in this in- stance, is the more chaste. (S.) En-Nábighah says, فَلَا تَحْسِبُونَ الخَيْرَ لَا شَرَّ بَعْدَهُ وَلَا تَحْسِبُونَ الشَّرَّ ضَرْبَةَ لَازِبِ [ Then think ye not that good shall have no evil after it, nor think ye that evil shall be a constant infliction ]. (S.) Sgh says, of the conversion of رِوَاغَةٌ into رِيَاغَةٌ, or of و into ى because of kesreh before it, هٰذَا القَلْبُ لَيْسَ بِضَرْبٍ لَازِبٍ [ This conversion is not a necessary sort. ] (TA in art. روغ.)

مِلْزَابٌ ذ Very avaricious; tenacious, or niggardly: (S, K:) pl. مَلَازِيبُ. (S.)

1 لَزِجَ ذ , aor. لَزَجَ , (S, M, K,) inf. n. لَزَجٌ and لُزُوجَةٌ (M) and لُزُوجٌ; (Msb;) and ↓ تلزّج; (M;) It (a thing, S) stretched out, in a neut. sense: it roped; or drew out, with a viscous, glutinous, clammy, cohesive, sticky, ropy, or slimy, continuity of parts: syn. تَمَطَّطَ and تَمَدَّدَ: (S, K:) it was, or became, viscous, glutinous, clammy, cohesive, sticky, ropy, or slimy, so as to adhere to the hand and the like. (Msb.) ― -b2- لَزِجَ بِهِ It adhered to him, or it, as glue or the like; syn. غَرِىَ. (S, K.) E. g. أَكَلْتُ شَيْئًا فَلَزِجَ بِأَصَابِعِى I ate a thing and it adhered to my fingers. (Msb.) ― -b3- [And] ↓ تلزّج It (food, or ointment,) became [ viscous, glutinous, clammy, cohesive, sticky, slimy, ropy, or mucilaginous, ] like خِطْمِىّ [or marsh-mallow ]. (M, &c.) ― -b4- النَّبَاتُ ↓ تلزّج i. q. تَلَجَّنَ: (S, K:) i. e., The herbage became flaccid, and one part thereof inclined over another: (TA:) [or became flaccid, and of a viscous consistency, or viscous or mucilaginous in its juice; as appears from what here follows]. Ru-beh says, [in the S, El-'Ajjáj,] describing a pair af asses, male and female, وَفَرَعَا مِنْ رَعْىِ مَا تَلَزَّجَا [ And they finished pasturing upon what had become flaccid, and of a viscous consistency ]. For, says J, [immediately after citing these words of the poet,] when herbage begins to dry up, its juice thickens, and becomes like the mucilage of the خِطْمِىّ [or marsh-mallow]. (TA.) Or the words of the poet, above quoted, signify, And they finished pasturing upon what they had searched after constantly, or time after time: for تَلَزُّجٌ also signifies the searching of a beast of carriage after herbage and leguminous plants, constantly, or time after time: and the two asses are here the agents of the verb تلزّجا. 5 تَلَزَّجَ See 1. ― -b2- تلزّج رَأْسُهُ His head remained unpurified of its dirt (S, K) after he had washed it. (Yaakoob, S.)

لَزِجٌ ذ (S, M, Msb) and ↓ مُتَلَزِّجٌ (M), A thing stretching out, in a neut. sense: roping; or drawing out, with a viscous, glutinous, clammy, cohesive, sticky, or slimy, continuity of parts: syn. مُتَمَطِّطٌ and مُتَمَدِّدٌ: (S:) viscous, glutinous, clammy, cohesive, sticky, ropy, or slimy, so as to adhere to the hand or the like: (Msb:) بَلْغَمٌ لَزِجٌ [ Viscous, glutinous, cohesive, sticky, or ropy, phlegm ]. (TA.) زَبِيبَةٌ لَزِجَةٌ A sticky raisin. (L.)

رَجُلٌ لَزْجَةٌ ذ , and لَزِجَةٌ, and لَزِيجَةٌ, A man who keeps to his place, and does not quit it. (K.)
