مُسْتَخْلِفٌ مستخلف : see خَالِفٌ, near the end of the paragraph. ― -b2- ذَهَبَ المُسْتَخْلِفُونَ يَسْتَقُونَ a saying mentioned by Lh as meaning Those going before [or leaving others in their places ] went away to draw water. (TA.)
