ولى

10 اِسْتَوْلَى عَلَيْهِ ذ He mastered, or gained the mastery over, him or it; (Msb;) he got it in his hand, possession, or power. (TA.) ― -b2- اـِسْتَوْلَتْ عَلَيْهِ الحُجَّةُ [ The argument, allegation, or pled, overcame him ]. (L in art. بهت.)
