1 وَسَمَ الثَّوْبَ ذ [ He marked, or put a mark on, the garment, &c.]; said of a trader, or dealer. (JK in art. رقم.) ― -b2- وَسَمَهُ بِالهِجَاآءِ [ He branded him, or stigmatized him, with satire ]. (TA.) See a hemistich cited voce شَكِىٌّ. ― -b3- وَسَمَهُ He marked it [in any manner]. (Msb.) ― -b4- وَسَمَهُ بِالقَوْلِ (tropical:) He stigmatized him, or set a mark upon him whereby he should be known, by something said.
