ترح

[ مَتْرَحَةٌ مترحه مترحة A cause of grief, sorrow, unhappiness, or anxiety: pl. مَتَارِحُ. Hence the saying,] تَرَّحَتْهُ المَتَارِحُ [ Misfortunes (lit. the causes of grief, &c.,) grieved him, or made him sorrowful, &c.]. (A.)
