سُكْنٌ ذ : see سُكْنَى. ― -b2- And see also مَسْكَنٌ, in three places. ― -b3- Also, (L, JM, [thus written in both, and expressly said in the latter to be “ with damm, ”]) or ↓ سَكَنٌ, (thus in copies of the K,) or ↓ سَكْنٌ, (thus in the CK,) [but the first is app. the right,] Food, aliment, or victuals, syn. قُوتٌ; (L, K, JM;) like نُزْلٌ meaning “ food (طَعَام, L, JM) of a party alighting to partake of it, ” and said to be called سُكْنٌ because by means of it a place is inhabited, like as the نُزْل of an army means the “ appointed rations of an army alighting at a place. ” (L.)
