(K, TA.) And تراوحوا أَمْرًا They did a thing by turns; syn. تعاوروهُ. (TA.) [Hence,] اـِنَّ يَدَيْهِ لَتَتَرَاوَحَانِ بِالمَعْرُوفِ (S, A *) [in the S, the context implies that the meaning is, Verily his two hands are occupied alternately in doing that which is kind, or beneficent: in the A, it is said to be tropical, and the context seems to indicate that the meaning is, (tropical:) his two hands vie, one with the other, in promptness to do that which is kind, or beneficent ]. ― -b2- تراوحوا لِبُيُوتِهِمْ and تراوحوا بُيُوتَهُمْ [ They went in the evening, or afternoon, to their tents, or houses, app. meaning one to another's tent, or house, by turns ].
