2 رفّتهُ ذ , inf. n. تَرْفِيتٌ, He broke it [app. much, or into many pieces ]: ― -b2- and hence, (assumed tropical:) He dishonoured, despised, or condemned, him; تَرْفِيتٌ being syn. with تَحْقِيرٌ, and contr. of تَرْفِيلٌ and تَعْظِيمٌ. (Er-Rághib, TA. *)
