ماآءٌ ذ Water. ― -b2- مَاآءُ الظَّهْرِ [ The seminal fluid ]. (K, voce اِنْبَتَّ.) See Kur, lxxxvi. 6, 7, and see 4 in art. روق. ― -b3- مَاآءٌ Lustre [likened to water, and running water,] of the teeth, (IbrD,) &c: see ظَلْمٌ and دَرْزٌ and غَرْبٌ. ― -b4- مَاآءٌ The water of a sword: see فِرِنْدٌ and رَوْنَقٌ: also its lustre. ― -b5- سَيْفٌ كَثِيرُ المَاآءِ [ A sword much diversified with wavy marks or streaks in its grain; as are the swords of Damascus &c.] (TA voce اـِبْرِيقٌ.) ― -b6- بَنَاتُ المَاآءِ i. q. الغَرَانِيقُ. [ storks or cranes ]. (L, art. وضر.) See عِرْسٌ. ― -b7- اِبْنُ المَاآءِ is (tropical:) A kind of bird; pl. بَنَاتُ المَاآءِ; (Mgh in art. بنى:) the aquatic bird; the bird of the water. (Msb in art. بنو.) ― -b8- مَاآءُ الشَّبَابِ: see شَبَابٌ. ― -b9- مَاآءُ الوَجْهِ: see حَقَنَ and تَشَهَّلَ. ― -b10- مَاآءُ الذَّهَبِ Gold-wash for gilding: and مَاآءُ الفِضَّةِ Silverwash for silvering: you say, طَلَاهُ بِمَاآءِ الذَّهَبِ, and الفِضَّةِ He washed it over with gold, and silver. ― -b11- مَاآءٌ is used as a coll. gen. n., of which the n. un. is مَاءَةٌ; and therefore is sometimes made, as a pl., to have a pl. epithet: ex. مَاءٌ عِذَابٌ. (See عَذْبٌ). مَاآءَةٌ signifies A water; or some water.
