8 امتدّ ذ , (S, L, K,) and ↓ تمدّد, [or this has an intensive or frequentative signification,] (L, K.) It (a rope, &c., A) because drawn, or pulled: it became strained: it became extended by drawing or pulling; it extended itself; it stretched. (L, K, El-Basáïr.) (Msb.) ― -b4- [ It (a time) became protracted. ] ― -b5- امتدّ بِهِمُ السَّيْرُ (tropical:) The journey became long to them. (A, * L.) ― -b6- امتدّ (tropical:) It (a man's life) became long.
