1 مَتَأَ ذ , aor. مَتَاَ , He beat a person with a staff or stick. (S, K.) ― -b2- Also, inf. n. مَتْءٌ, (TA,) He extended, or stretched out, a rope: (S, K:) a dial. form of مَتَا. [See art. متو]. (S.)
