جرد

جَرْدٌ جرد (tropical:) A garment old and worn out, (L, K, TA,) of which the nap has fallen off: or one between that which is new and that which is old and worn out: pl. جُرُودٌ. (L, TA.) You say بُرْدَةٌ جَرْدٌ, (A,) and ↓ جَرْدَةٌ [alone], (S, L, TA,) (tropical:) A [ garment of the kind called ] بردة worn so that it has become smooth. (S, A, L, TA. *) And [the pl.] جُرُودٌ, (K, TA, in the CK جَرُود,) as a subst., (TA,) (assumed tropical:) Old and worn-out garments. (K.) It is said in a trad. of Aboo-Bekr, لَيْسَ عِنْدَنَا مِنْ مَالِ المُسْلِمِينَ اـِلَّا جَرْدُ هٰذِهِ القَطِيفَةِ, meaning (assumed tropical:) There is not in our possession, of the property of the Muslims, save this threadbare and worn-out قطيفة. (TA.) -A2- (assumed tropical:) The pudendum, or pudenda; [app. because usually shaven, or depilated;] syn. فَرْجٌ, (K,) i. e. عَوْرَةٌ. (TA.) ― -b2- And (assumed tropical:) The penis.
