Root entry · 1 derived lemmaفَنَعٌ ذ [as a simple subst.] Increase, and abundance, of wealth: (S:) increase (O, K, TA) in wealth and in what is little in quantity: (TA:) and i. q. خَيْرٌ [ good, moral or physical; wealth, or much wealth; prosperity, welfare, or wellbeing; &c.]: and generosity: (O, K, TA:) and large, or ample, liberality or bounty or munificence: (TA:) and excellence; (O, K;) or much, or abundant, excellence. (TA.) One says مَالٌ ذُو فَنَعٍ and فَنَأٍ, but the former is more common and more known, i. e. Abundant wealth. (TA.) And فَرَسٌ ذَو فَنَعٍ فِى سَيْرِهِ A horse having increase [ in his rate of going ], or having excess [ therein ]. (TA.) ― -b2- And Strength of odour of musk. (K.) مِسْكٌ ذُو فَنَعٍ means Musk of which the odour is strong. (S, O.) ― -b3- And Good report. (IDrd, O, K.) And The spreading, or diffusion, of eulogy.
