دَامَاآءُ داماآء (in the CK [erroneously] دَأْماءُ) The sea, or a great river; syn. بَحْرٌ; (M, K;) because of the continuance of its water: (M:) originally دَوَمَاآءُ, or دَوْمَاآءُ: if the latter, the change of the و into ا is anomalous. (TA.)
